    摘要: An image forming apparatus includes an image reading section for reading an image of a book, to which an information tag is added, so as to acquire image data. Based on information stored in the information tag, the image forming apparatus controls an image forming section. The image forming apparatus further includes a tag addition determining section, an added information determining section, and a control section. The tag addition determining section determines whether or not the information tag is added to the book, and the added information determining section determines whether or not the image data contains added information indicating that the information tag is added to the book. Further, the control section controls the image forming section not to carry out image forming, both when the added information determining section determines that the added information is contained and the tag addition determining section determines that the information tag is not added to the book. With the above structure, it is possible to prevent unlimited copying, which may occur when a storage device added to an original document is removed from the original document.

    摘要: An image copying device and an image copying system are arranged to read an image of a document and to acquire copyright information on each area regarding the image of the document from an IC chip embedded in the document. Then, based on the read image data and the acquired copyright information, a selection screen is displayed on a manipulation/display panel. Copyright information on each area of the image of the document is schematically represented on the selection screen. Whether or not copying is performed is selected area by area by manipulation by a user on this screen. For areas for which “copying” is selected is copied, but areas for which “nocopying” has been selected is not copied. Further, a copyright fee pertaining to the copied areas is collected. Thus, the image copying device and an image copying system enable the user to select appropriate processing according to differences in copyright information from one area to another of the image and cause images to be formed.

    摘要: Using an image processing program, a personal computer identifies objects photographed in individual images, on the basis of additional data appended to image data of those images. The image data and the additional data are obtained and written on a memory by a digital camera, and transferred to the personal computer. When the user selects a part to correct in an image, plural levels of categories are displayed on a monitor in accordance with the object corresponding to the selected part. The user selects a category from among the displayed categories, and designates contents and parameters of image correction. Then, any parts of the image which correspond to those objects included in the selected category are automatically corrected in the designated manner. If necessary, also those parts of other relating images which correspond to the objects included in the selected category are automatically corrected in the designated manner.

When the read data is additional information, which can be printed as an image, the copying apparatus stops a printing process, and notifies a message indicating that the read data is the additional information to the user and then, waits for an instruction issued by the user. When the user instructs to print the additional information, the copying apparatus prints the image read from the original paper and the additional information read from the IC chip on a printing paper in an output format designated by the user.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for providing media-independent security for a document may be programmed to create a document file having two or more components. In one embodiment, a document may include a background object, an image object (e.g. text, graphic, both, or the like), and a watermark object. When output, the image object is directly interpretable by a user. Meanwhile, in the background object, watermark object, or both, a high-resolution pattern may be stored to be output with all copies of the document. Encoded in some binary symbol in the pattern is security data. Resolution is high enough that the binary symbols are undetectable by a human eye. A processor may be programmed to recognize (e.g. read) the pattern, decode the pattern into binary data, and decode the binary data to characters directly interpretable by a user. Information relating to creation and control of a document, signature, or the like, may all be encoded independent from the principal image (e.g. text, graphic), to be virtually undetectable by human eyes, yet non-removeable by copying methods, including photocopying, scanning, electronic storage, and the like.
