    摘要： Chocolates are wrapped individually by a method that involves feeding single wrapping sheets along a first path in a first direction spaced at a selected pitch, in such a way that the trailing edge of one wrapping sheet and the leading edge of the next are distanced one from another, and at the same time feeding a continuous ribbon in a second direction along a second path that merges with the first path at an assembling station where the ribbon is stably united with the sheets; ribbon and sheet then advance together in a third direction, along which the ribbon is divided into discrete slivers by repeated cuts, each made between the trailing edge of one sheet and the leading edge of the next and at a distance such that each sliver will present a portion projecting from the trailing edge of the wrapping sheet to which it is attached.

    摘要： A pouch for holding liquids includes a pre-inserted straw within the pouch. A top end of the straw is exposed by removing a portion of the pouch. For manufacture, a web of flexible packaging material, suitable for forming a pouch or bag for storing liquids, is advanced forward in a pouch forming direction. A single straw of suitable length to fit within the confines of a resulting pouch is cut from a continuous length of straw material. The single straw is placed onto the web of packaging material in a location that will be on the inside surface of a single wall of the pouch and there it is secured in place preferably by a heat seal between one side of the straw and the inside surface of the pouch wall. The resulting pouch web material, having a plurality of straws positioned along its length provides a feedstock for forming pouches with pre-inserted straws when using a so called form and fill method of forming pouches or when making pre-made pouches. The pre-inserted straw is totally enclosed within the confines of each resultant pouch and therefore eliminates the need to be attached to the outside of the pouch or be inserted into the pouch through one of the walls of the pouch.

    摘要： A sealing assembly attachment, for use in preparing envelopes which will apply a gum to a top flap, place a piece of release paper over the gummed flap, fold and crease the top flap and deliver the envelope to be stacked and counted. The sealing assembly attachment generally consists of a transfer cylinder to transfer envelopes into the sealing assembly attachment, a vacuum cylinder within the sealing assembly attachment to transport envelopes from the transfer cylinder and through the sealing assembly attachment, a gum pattern applicator to apply gum to a top flap of the envelopes while being transferred by the vacuum cylinder, a release paper applicator after the gum pattern applicator to place release paper over the gum applied to the top flap, a flap fold cylinder used in cooperation with the vacuum cylinder to fold and crease the top flap; and a delivery disk to transfer the envelope from the sealing assembly attachment to a delivery table to be stacked. A sealing apparatus is also described for use as a stand alone apparatus used in preparing envelopes wherein there is gum applied to a top flap over which is placed a piece of release paper. The finished envelope is then folded and delivered for further processing, such as stacking and counting.

The linear cut is disposed in an area between the parallel creases and has a depth extending only partly through the thickness of the package wall.

    摘要： An apparatus for cutting tear-off strips from a strip of material having a width equal to the length of the tear-off strip and for applying the tear-off strip to a conveyed web of packaging material is disclosed. The apparatus has one movable and one stationary straight knife for the progressive cutting of the strip, a device to which suction can be applied for transferring the cut strip along its longitudinal axis to a suction roll, the suction roll being partially covered by the continuously conveyed packaging material. The strip is conveyed to the roll and the combination passes through a welding device for welding the tear-off strip to the web of packaging material. In order to operate at higher cycle rates, the device has a suction wheel for transferring the strip, which conveys the strip to the suction roll, the suction wheel being virtually motionless at the pick up position of the strip and being accelerated to the transfer point of the suction roll until the speeds of the suction wheel and roll are roughly the same.
