摘要： Sheet products, such as card stock, envelopes and other paper products (10) are advanced on a vacuum surface conveyor belt (30) beneath a glue applicator drum (35). The glue transfer strips (37 and 38) of the glue applicator drum apply stripes of glue (42 and 43) at the ends of the sheet product, leaving a belt engaging space (41) without glue between the glue stripes. The sheet product is grasped by overlying conveyor belts (46 and 47) at the belt engaging space (41), thereby exposing the wet glue stripes on opposite sides of the belts. Hot air is applied on opposite sides of the conveyor belts (46 and 47), drying the glue. The glue transfer strips (37 and 38) of the glue applicator drum can be adjusted in size, shape and position so as to apply glue to one end, the other end, or both ends of the sheet product, and if glue is applied to only one end, one of the dryers (50 or 51) can be deactivated, saving energy.

摘要： Envelopes and letter sheets are mounted on a continuous carrier in such a manner that they alternate and are continuously shingled. The envelope flaps are first affixed to the carrier sheet, with the envelopes in an open position and with their flap folds adjacent and parallel to infolds between carrier sheet panels. The letter sheets are then affixed to the same panels, with the free end of each sheet extending across both an outfold and the next infold. When the carrier sheet is fanfolded, each envelope closes over the top margin of the following letter sheet, and the lower margin of each letter sheet extends across the upper margin of the following envelope.

摘要： A gummer roll apparatus preferably for applying gum to envelopes during continuous processing and operation of a gumming machine, has a pick-up roll, a meter roll and a transfer roll that transfers a gum or adhesive such as latex to a gummer roll. The pick-up roll and meter roll rotate in opposite directions and are in a skidding-like contact due to different rotational speeds whereby excess gum or adhesive is removed from the pick-up roll and returned to a gum box or trough with a minimum of foaming in the gum box and on the pick up roll.

摘要： An apparatus (5) for packaging generally granular materials is disclosed. The apparatus includes a structural framework (7) on which a feed hopper (8) is mounted, the feed hopper being supplied with the material to be packaged, and storing the material therein. A fill hopper assembly (11) is supported on the framework with respect to the feed hopper, and has a spaced pair of fill hoppers (31, 32) received thereon. As spaced pair of discharge chutes (15, 16) are also supported on the framework, and are offset with respect to the feed hopper. Each one of the fill hoppers is alternately moved into alignment with the feed hopper and into alignment with one of the discharge chutes, respectively, in reciprocable fashion on the framework. Each one of the fill hoppers includes a gravity actuated trap door (44, 45) constructed and arranged to be held in a substantially sealed and closed position on the fill hopper as it is aligned with the feed hopper, and constructed and arranged for movement into an opened position within one of the discharge chutes, respectively, as the fill hopper is aligned over the discharge chute for transferring material from the fill hopper into the discharge chute and toward one of a number of containers (20) provided for receiving the material therein.

摘要： A sealing assembly attachment, for use in preparing envelopes which will apply a gum to a top flap, place a piece of release paper over the gummed flap, fold and crease the top flap and deliver the envelope to be stacked and counted. The sealing assembly attachment generally consists of a transfer cylinder to transfer envelopes into the sealing assembly attachment, a vacuum cylinder within the sealing assembly attachment to transport envelopes from the transfer cylinder and through the sealing assembly attachment, a gum pattern applicator to apply gum to a top flap of the envelopes while being transferred by the vacuum cylinder, a release paper applicator after the gum pattern applicator to place release paper over the gum applied to the top flap, a flap fold cylinder used in cooperation with the vacuum cylinder to fold and crease the top flap; and a delivery disk to transfer the envelope from the sealing assembly attachment to a delivery table to be stacked. A sealing apparatus is also described for use as a stand alone apparatus used in preparing envelopes wherein there is gum applied to a top flap over which is placed a piece of release paper. The finished envelope is then folded and delivered for further processing, such as stacking and counting.

摘要： An adjustable control roller apparatus for use in a belt-type conveyor assembly comprises a upright support arm having a pivot pin and a first attachment member, and a pivot member engaging the pivot pin. The pivot member has a second attachment member and a pair of rollers rotatably mounted thereon. A biasing member engages the first and second attachment members for biasing the rollers of the pivot member toward the lower conveyor belt of a second section of the conveyor assembly. A support bracket is also included for adjustably supporting the upright support arm so that the rollers can be positioned between the exit pulleys of a first conveyor section and the entrance pulleys of the second conveyor section of the conveyor assembly.
