    摘要: A component lead cutting and forming apparatus for axial lead electronic components respectively having first and second leads secured to tape, including bending dies for supporting the first and second leads of an axial lead component in process. The bending dies are supported by slide blocks, and strain relief clamps selectively clamp the first and second leads against the bending dies. First and second parallel carriage blocks, which are adjustable in separation, support the slide blocks. Driving apparatus including an air cylinder translates the slide blocks between a first position and a second position in a linear direction generally orthogonal to the orientation of the axial leads of the component in process, and further controls cutting blades for cutting the leads of the component in process. The cutting blades are secured in parallel cutting blade support blocks which are adjustable as to separation. Bending rollers supported by the carriage blocks cooperate with the bending dies to bend the leads of the axial lead component in process as the slide blocks are linearly translated from the first position to the second position. When the slide blocks are in the second position, grippers grasp the processed component legs and translate the component for robotic pick-up presentation.

The crimping plate is movable by a plate-moving means such as a wedge member having a slightly sloping bearing surface where the wedge member is moved horizontally atop the main body member by an adjustment screw, for instance. The tooling can be secured in a handtool, or a pneumatic bench machine, or a semiautomatic applicator apparatus as desired.

    摘要: An electrical harness fabrication machine which produces harnesses which comprise ribbon cable having a connector at each end. Each connector has a housing with terminals loaded therein. Prior to termination to the cable, the terminals are partially preloaded into their respective housings so that conductor engaging ends thereof are presented to a termination station for mass termination. A conductor engaging end of the terminals are free standing sections which form an insulation displacement slot therebetween. The termination assembly has a portion adjacent conductor stuffing blades for laterally supporting the conductor engaging ends of the terminals during the termination operation. In addition, pilot members are provided to cooperate with a connector nest having a preloaded connector received therein and the conductors for accurately aligning the conductors, conductor engaging ends of the terminals and the termination assembly with respect to one another.

    摘要: In an assembly for connecting electrical connectors to flat multi-conductor cable, an arm of a robot is provided with a connector transfer nest into which a connector can be fed at a connector feed station, for transfer by the robot to a press through which the cable has been fed. The nest is inserted into the press by the robot so that the cable extends through the nest and the press is then operated to actuate means in the nest to force conductor receiving portions of terminals in the connector through the cable to receive the cable conductors. The robot is then operated to withdraw the nest from the press leaving the connector on the cable and the cable is fed forward to allow the robot to apply a further connector thereto and so on. Means may be provided for severing the cable with the connectors thereon to provide separate electrical harnesses.

    摘要: A device for mounting an integrated circuit with two rows of terminal pins to a circuit board comprises a pair of stationary knives and a pair of movable knives, each stationary knife overlying the respective movable knife on opposite sides of a stationary anvil member. Each stationary knife is provided in the region of its cutting edge with a multiplicity of spaced parallel slots extending transversely to the cutting edge, whereby the stationary knife is formed in the region of the cutting edge with a multiplicity of cutting tabs. Each cutting tab is connected to a respective strain gauge strip in turn electrically connected to a processing or monitoring circuit by means of a multiplicity of leads. The monitoring circuit detects the electrical resistances of the strain gauge strips and thereby determines whether the corresponding cutting tab has been loaded or engaged by a terminal pin during a bending and severing operation. The monitoring circuit includes a microprocessor and a display.

    摘要: Apparatus for installing connectors on cables is disclosed. Each connector comprises a connector housing having a conductor receiving end and terminals therein which receive wires and establish contact therewith. A cover or closure is provided which is assembled to the connector housing at the conductor receiving end. The apparatus comprises a housing jig, a cover jig which is opposed to the housing jig, and a cable locator which locates the cable between the two jigs. Cooperating cutter blades may be provided on the jigs so that when they are moved towards each other, the cable will be cut and the conductors moved into the terminals in the connector housing. In accordance with a further embodiment, the housings and covers are produced as continuous strip material which is fed to the two jigs. Strip material cutters are provided for cutting a connector housing and a section of cover members from the strip at the time of installation of the connector on the cable.
