Abstract:
An aqueous leather treatment composition is provided containing select soft polymer particles and water-filled voided particles. Also provided are a method for preparing an embossed coated leather substrate, which includes the application of the aqueous leather treatment composition, as well as an article prepared from the embossed coated leather substrate.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method of making a film, and to a die for making the film. The fluid die includes a fluid feed manifold connected to a housing having positioned therein at least one fluid feed channel in fluid communication with the fluid feed manifold. The housing also includes at least one profiling block within the fluid feed channel.
Abstract:
A method of making a skin of an interior trim part and an interior trim part made according to the process. A male mold having a convex portion is used to form a skin having a uniform thickness that is sprayed on the surface of the mold. The surface of the mold has a grain pattern that is transferred to a skin. The skin is allowed to flash off or partially cure before being removed from the male mold. The skin is then turned inside out with the exterior surface being inverted to form a convex portion of the skin. The skin is placed into a female mold having a concave portion against which the convex portion of the skin is placed. Foam is injected into the inverted skin while in a female mold and is cured to form an interior trim part.
Abstract:
A method of producing a transparent article comprised of a transparent base substrate and having a thickness of at least 100 microns and a surface costing of a transparent resin wherein the resin is applied to the base substrate by means of a jet printer, preferably an ink jet printer. The transparent article may be a window for a display device, e.g. incorporated in a mobile telephone.
Abstract:
A method for producing an embossed sheet having a fine emboss pattern with high productivity and safety. The cooled and solidified base sheet 25 is pressed by the rotating pressing roll 24 and the embossing roll 23 while laminating the molten resin 27 on the embossing roll side surface of the base sheet.
Abstract:
A method is provided for producing a molded part that is deep drawn from a thermoplastic foil. An outer surface of the thermoplastic foil is provided with a positive depth structure, under the effect of heat and pressure, by means of a stamping or embossing roller that has a negative depth structure. In at least one extent of a surface of the embossing roller, the negative depth structure of the roller is compressed in such surface regions thereof that effect a stretching of the foil during deep drawing. Subsequently, at least a portion of the foil is deep drawn.
Abstract:
A method for weakening a portion of a web includes moving a web in a machine direction between at least a first location and a second location, wherein the second location is positioned downstream of the first location, forming a line of weakness in the web at the first location, wherein the web has a first tensile strength across the line of weakness, and weakening the line of weakness at a second location, wherein the web has a second tensile strength across the line of weakness after the line of weakness is weakened at the second location and wherein the first tensile strength is greater than the second tensile strength. In another aspect, a method includes moving a web through a nip, wherein the nip is defined by first and second moveable members. The first moveable member comprises at least one insert member and the second moveable member comprises at least one recess shaped to receive the insert member. Preferably, the method includes pushing at least a portion of the web at the line of weakness with the insert member into the recess. An apparatus for weakening a portion of a web is also provided.
Abstract:
A deflashing apparatus includes a positioning device which positions a blade at a predetermined position of a molded article, a moving unit mounted to the positioning device for moving the blade along a parting line of the molded article, a pressing device mounted to the moving unit for guiding the moving unit linearly toward and away from the molded article and biasing the moving unit toward the molded article to bring the blade into contact with the molded article at a predetermined force, and a supporting device which supports and moves the molded article with respect to the blade.
Abstract:
The disk burnishing process is conducted with a contact flying burnishing head wherein the leading edge of the burnishing head is disposed above the surface of the disk, while the trailing edge of the burnishing head makes contact with the surface of the disk. The contact flying configuration of the burnishing head is obtained by controlling the rotating disk RPM in conjunction with the burnishing head design characteristics. In the contact flying burnishing process, the burnishing edges of the several burnishing pads of the head are disposed at different heights relative to the disk surface, such that the leading burnishing pad edges are higher than the trailing burnishing pad edges. In this configuration, high asperities are trimmed by the burnishing pads while low asperities are not. Thus, a disk is properly burnished for subsequent hard disk drive performance with a minimum of surface debris being created by the burnishing process.
Abstract:
A hand-held applicator tool for applying uncured texture material to a base surface as an intermediate step in creating a knockdown textured surface, the tool having a handle, a backing member and sponge-like compressible member, where the face surface of the compressible member is provided with a plurality of irregularly distributed, sized and shaped voids which receive varying amounts of texture material for transfer of the texture material onto the base surface in an irregular pattern.
