摘要: An environmentally responsible iron chelating additive and method for removing hydrogen sulfide or sulfide ions from drilling and packer fluids and preventing settling of precipitates. Iron chelating agents selected from the group consisting of ferrous lactate, ferrous gluconate, ferrous bis glycinate, ferrous citrate, ferrous acetate, ferrous fumarate, ferrous succinate, ferrous sacchrate, ferrous tartarate, ferrous glycine sulfate, ferrous glutamate, ferrous ascorbate, ferrous polymaltose, or a combination thereof, may be used. When the fluids are oil based, the iron chelating agents are added to the water phase of an emulsion, and the emulsion is added to the fluid. Viscosifiers may also be added to the drilling fluid with the emulsion.

摘要: A method of hydraulically fracturing a subterranean formation penetrated by a wellbore comprises: providing a diverting fluid comprising a carrier fluid, a first superabsorbent polymer and a second superabsorbent polymer, the second superabsorbent polymer having a shape, or a composition, or a combination thereof different from that of the first superabsorbent polymer; injecting the diverting fluid into the subterranean formation; and injecting a fracturing fluid into the formation after injecting the diverting fluid. A viscosity modifying agent can be present in the diverting fluid. Superabsorbent polymers can also be used to develop a temporary filter cake at the formation face to reduce or eliminate the fluid leakoff out of the wellbore.

摘要: A method of fracturing a subterranean formation penetrated by a well comprises: forming a fracturing composition comprising a carrier fluid; and a superabsorbent polymer component comprising one or more of the following: a first composite of a proppant and a first superabsorbent polymer in an unhydrated form, the first superabsorbent polymer being at least partially embedded in a void area of the proppant; a coated superabsorbent polymer; a superabsorbent material having a three-dimensional network; or a second composite of a second superabsorbent polymer and a slow-release breaker; and pumping the hydraulic fracturing composition into the subterranean formation to create or enlarge a fracture.

The oil-based drilling fluid comprising a base oil continuous phase, an aqueous discontinuous phase, and at least one rheology modifier. The method of preparing the oil-based drilling fluid including mixing a base oil, at least one emulsifier, and at least one wetting agent to form a first mixture, adding and mixing at least one rheology modifier into the first mixture to form a second mixture, adding and mixing at least one fluid-loss control additive into the second mixture to form a third mixture, adding and mixing a brine solution into the third mixture to form a fourth mixture, and adding and mixing a weighting additive into the fourth mixture to form the oil-based drilling fluid.

The electrocrushing drilling fluid may have a dielectric constant or dielectric strength of at least a set amount, an electric conductivity less than a set amount, or a combination of these properties. The disclosure further relates to an electrocrushing drilling system containing the electrocrushing drilling fluid and an electrocrushing drill bit.
