摘要： A subtractor calculates an actual wheel speed difference between rotational speeds of left and right wheels on a motor vehicle, and a steering angle converter calculates an actual steering angle from the actual wheel speed difference. The difference between the actual steering angle and an adequate steering angle which is produced based on a lateral acceleration is compared with a predetermined reference range. If the difference between the actual and adequate steering angles exceeds the predetermined reference range, then the pneumatic pressure of a tire on one of the left and right wheels is determined as being lowered. In the steering angle converter, a weight value is established according to a running condition of the motor vehicle, and the calculated actual steering angle or comparative sensitivity is varied according to the weight value. Since the comparative sensitivity is varied according to the running condition, a reduction in the pneumatic pressure of the tire can be detected even under running conditions which lead to large errors.

摘要： A concrete cutting saw is provided for the cutting of grooves in the surface of wet concrete. The concrete saw generally comprises a motor driven rotating cutting blade mounted on a support structure. The concrete saw is supported during cutting by wheels, and has a skid plate with a slot through which the rotating cutting blade passes to cut the concrete. The skid plate is movably attached to the concrete saw and resiliently urged against the concrete during cutting so that it remains in contact with the surface of the concrete surrounding the cutting blade during cutting. The skid plate is constrained into a bowed configuration so that it is substantially flat during cutting. A variable speed transmission is drivingly connected to the wheels to propel the saw across the concrete during cutting. Sensors detect the relative position of the skid plate and the cutting blade to generate an electric signal which cooperates with the variable speed transmission to slow down the saw as it encounters hard aggregate, and to speed up the saw as it encounters soft concrete.

摘要： A vehicle for filling potholes and the like in roads with an asphalt-gravel mixture which comprises a wheeled chassis and driving motor, a gravel hopper, a tank for holding liquid asphalt, an extendable and retractable boom, a head applied on the boom for mixing and applying the asphalt-gravel mixture to desired road sites, a first hose carried along the boom and communicating between the hopper and the head, and a second hose carried along the boom and communicating between the tank and the head. Improvements in the disposition of the first and second hoses are provided, along with an improved valve for the gravel hopper, to greatly reduce wear in the apparatus during use and thus to reduce the need for maintenance.

摘要： A rotating cutting blade and its drive motor are mounted on a wheeled support platform. The blade extends through a skid plate depending from the platform, in order to cut the concrete below the skid plate. The slot in the skid plate has its ends configured to fit within predetermined distances of the corresponding ends of cutting segments on the cutting blade. The cutting segments are configured to have a generally inverted "T" configuration in which a central cutting segment extends radially outward from two cutting segments located on opposite sides of the central segment. The exterior edges of the cutting segments may be square or rounded. the juncture between the central and shoulder segments may be square or rounded. The concrete is advantageously cut before it hardens to 1200 psi, without the use of an added lubricant, or above that hardness with lubricant if the cutting plate is supported within a sufficiently close distance by a skid plate.

摘要： An expansion joint for settable compositions such as concrete and the like comprises a base portion which is embedded in the composition before it sets with its upper surface adjacent the surface of the composition, and a cover portion which is engagingly received in a slot defined by the removal of a portion of the upper surface of the base portion after the composition hardens around the base. The cover portion is sufficiently wide to cover gaps in the composition adjacent the edge of the base portion. Two or more base portions may be secured together to provide an expansion joint to variable depths in the composition.

摘要： In order to cut soft concrete before it has completely hardened, or about 12 to 18 hours after finishing, a rotating cutting blade and its drive motor are mounted on a wheeled support platform. The blade extends through a slot in the platform, and also through a skid plate depending from the platform, in order to cut the concrete below the skid plate. The slot and the skid plate are sized to support the concrete as it is being cut and to inhibit cracking and chipping of the concrete during cutting. The slot preferably has as little space as possible between the sides of the slot and the adjacent sides of the cutting blade. An extendable handle allows the device to be used beyond the physical reach of the operator.

摘要： A joint former for hardenable material such as concrete comprises two essentially identical web members which are releasably attached to each other by a two-part friction coupling to form an assembly which is generally a T-shaped assembly. Each web is configured along at least one edge to form a first coupling part and along a central portion of at least one surface to form a second complementary coupling part so that any two of such webs can be attached to each other to provide a T-shaped assembly. In use the web forming the body of the T is inserted into the hardenable material, the bar web serving to align and position the inserted web. The bar web is then detached from the inserted web and releasably attached to another essentially identical web to form another T-shaped assembly suitable for use in the manner just described.

摘要： An apparatus for continuously forming and positioning a keyway joint is removably coupled to the front end of a slip-form paving machine. A supply roll of key strip stock is mounted on the apparatus and the strip is guided to successive arrangements of forming rollers for shaping the strip into a desired form. An automatic punch mechanism is provided for pucnhing holes in the strip liner and an automatic tie bar mechanism is also associated with the apparatus for automatically placing tie bars into these holes. Because it is difficult to assure that such tie bars are properly placed in the holes and since an improperly positioned tie bar can cause serious damage to the keyway and pavement already laid, a mechanism is provided for shutting down the paving machine if such tie bars are not properly placed.
