The MADD includes at least one material application mechanism (MAM) coupled in flow communication with the conduit. The system also includes a pressurization device coupled in flow communication with the conduit and the MADD. The pressurization device is configured to channel the spreadable material into the at least one MAM and to generate a positive pressure within the at least one MAM to facilitate delivering the spreadable material to the pavement surface.

Another aspect of the invention is a polymer emulsion composition having a high coefficient of friction comprising a mixture of polymer resin blended with a mixture of cement and angular sand aggregate and titanium dioxide to provide a solar reflectance index number that ranges from 0.30 to 0.38 and a friction number in the range of 45 to 55. Another aspect of the invention is a polymer emulsion for sealing open graded bituminous asphalt comprising a mixture of polymer resin blended with a mixture of cement and angular sand aggregate which will provide a friction number in the range of 45 to 55 when the ratio of aggregate to cement is 70/30.

The roadway paving vehicle comprises an asphalt binder material dispensing system and an aggregate material dispensing system. The asphalt binder material dispensing system includes an asphalt tank and a sprayer that sprays a first layer of the asphalt binder material over the roadway surface. The aggregate material dispensing system comprises an aggregate hopper and conveyor mechanism that discharges a second layer of aggregate material over the roadway surface. No wheels run over a freshly laid surface. Supply trucks are linked to the roadway paving vehicle to refill the roadway paving vehicle on a continuous basis without the need of stopping the vehicle.

The vehicle also may be used 1) to support at least portions of the carriage, 2) to support at least portions of vehicle-connected components of the apparatus, and/or 3) to provide a source of power or to support at least portions of a source of power for operating vehicle-connected and/or carriage-connected components of the apparatus. Other aspects of the invention relate 1) to the advantageous utilization of various combinations of vehicle-connected and carriage-connected coating apparatus components to dispense, mix and uniformly apply coating constituents to traffic surface areas, and 2) to traffic surface areas that are coated as a result thereof.

Improvements in the disposition of the first and second hoses are provided, along with an improved valve for the gravel hopper, to greatly reduce wear in the apparatus during use and thus to reduce the need for maintenance.

摘要： An apparatus for dispensing, mixing and applying coating constituents to traffic surfaces has a wheeled transport carriage that supports a reservoir for coating constituents that are to be dispensed. A dispensing system regulates the dispensing of coating constituents from the reservoir onto traffic surface portions that extend centrally beneath the carriage. A power drive system moves the carriage across selected portions of traffic surfaces, rotates a set of mixing and applicator tools that extend in a radial array beneath the carriage, and rotates a set of blending blades within the reservoir to maintain coating constituent homogeneity, with these functions characteristically being carried out concurrently during the dispensing of coating constituents from the reservoir. The power drive system includes a carriage-mounted source of rotary energy such as an engine, and provides for coordinated operation of the power driven components at appropriate relative speeds of rotation to facilitate the application of coating constituents to traffic surfaces in a desired manner and with desired uniformity. Method aspects of the invention reside in the coordinated manner in which separate sets of power driven components are operated to enhance the character and uniformity of coatings that are applied to traffic surfaces.
