摘要: An apparatus and process to generate a liquid-gas-surfactant foam and to measure its viscosity and enable optical and or electronic measurements of physical properties. The process includes the steps of pumping selected and measured liquids and measured gases into a mixing cell. The mixing cell is pressurized to a desired pressure and maintained at a desired pressure. Liquids and gas are mixed in the mixing cell to produce a foam of desired consistency. The temperature of the foam in the mixing cell is controlled. Foam is delivered from the mixing cell through a viscometer under controlled pressure and temperature conditions where the viscous and physical properties of the foam are measured and observed.

摘要: A dust sampling device having a sampling nozzle is provided. The nozzle is provided with an inlets the diameter of which is variable. The diameter of the nozzle can be instantaneously changed, while keeping constant a sampling flow rate within a measuring device as the nozzle is introduced into a chimney or a duct in response to a change in flue gas flow velocity, to thereby maintain an uniform sampling rate in the nozzle. The nozzle is connected to a dust measuring device and is inserted into an interior of an flue gas passage. The diameter of the nozzle can be changed so as to keeping sampling gas flow rate determined by the dust measuring device constant at the sampling velocity corresponding to the flow velocity of the flue gas. The flue gas sampled through the nozzle is introduced into the dust measuring device.

摘要: A method of, and apparatus for measuring the relative proportions of oil and water in a flowing multiphase fluid includes allowing the gas, oil and water phases of the multiphase fluid at least partially to separate, diverting at least some of the separated gas phase from the flowing fluid, into a bypass conduit, through a separating module, such as the tank of a homogenizing unit, where the gas phase tends to separate and collect above a pool of fluid, and measuring the relative proportions of oil and water in the undiverted fluid. A valve is located in the bypass conduit which has an inlet leading from the upper section of the tank (where gas collects) and an outlet joining the outlet pipe leading from the homogenizing unit downstream of metering apparatus.

摘要: Method, apparatus and product for analyzing a quality control regimen comprising one or more quality control tests, to determine if the tests are in statistical control, and therefore could be removed from the regimen or sampled at a different rate. On sample data relating to each of the tests, there is determined Cpi, a measure of the spread of the data, which is simply the ratio of the magnitude of the actual range of the data, to the magnitude of calculated statistical range of the data. There is also determined CPKi, which is a measure of how close the spread of the data is to the upper or lower limit of the data. For convenience, the magnitude of Cpi is represented as a vertical bar graph, with the value of CPKi shown as a position of the bar graph within normalized limits. Using Cpi and CPKi decisions regarding removal of each the test can be made. One or more tests are then selected for removal or to have a different sampling rate, and “What If” scenarios then performed to see how the testing regimen would have performed without the test(s) or at the different sampling rate.

摘要: Methods and systems for generating a quality enhancement project report. In one embodiment, the methods and systems generate a report of a Six Sigma quality enhancement project directed to a selected process. The project report in this embodiment includes a starting process capability, an ending process capability, a confidence level for the process capabilities, a performance chart that graphically depicts a process improvement and economic data corresponding to the overall cost savings that should result from implementing the process improvement. In one embodiment, a user automatically generates a project report by entering basic project information into various fields on a computer-implemented form displayed on a computer screen. This basic information can include starting process performance data, ending process performance data, and economic data such as labor reductions and implementation costs. After the user has entered this information, process parameters that characterize the project results are automatically generated on the computer-implemented form.

摘要: Shot peening coverage is confirmed by mounting a test strip having surface irregularities of graduated depth on a surface of a component undergoing peening for which peening coverage is to be confirmed. The component, with the test strip attached thereto, is exposed to the shot stream under production conditions. The strip, which is selected according to a procedure described herein such that some, but not all, of the surface irregularities are removed when proper peening coverage is attained, is then removed and examined.

摘要: An apparatus and method are provided for continuously monitoring the operation of electrical equipment and preventing critical operational failures. The invention quantitatively determines the concentrations of gas and/or vapor (including water) components in an insulating fluid on a real time basis. An increase of one or more detected chemical components signifies an actual or potential electrical problem with the equipment. The preferred apparatus consists of a gas extractor, an infrared gas analysis instrument, and a gas diaphragm pump. Gas and water vapor components are extracted from the insulating fluid by permeating through a membrane in a gas extractor. The gas and/or vapor components are then brought into an infrared gas analyzer by the gas diaphragm pump. A quad detector in the analysis instrument identifies and determines the concentration of three specified gases and/or the vapor simultaneously.
