Abstract:
There is provided a printer control apparatus which can be applied to an image forming apparatus in which a plurality of types of readers and a plurality of types of printers can be connected to a single controller, and which enable efficient transfer of image data from the reader to the printer via an image memory of the controller. The controller receives image data from a reader and temporarily stores the same in an image memory, and transmits the stored image data to a printer. The controller acquires a reader processing speed from the reader and a printer processing speed from the printer, and determines, while the image data is being written to the image memory, timing for transmitting the image data written in the memory to the printer according to a difference between the reader processing speed and the printer processing speed and a sub-scan size of the image data. The controller causes the reader to start reading an original, and transmits the written image data from the image memory to the printer in the determined timing.
Abstract:

Abstract:
The present invention discloses methods by which client computers working in a host operating environment can use from external data sources, which methods do not require nonvolatile storage of the data as native data to the host operating environment. The methods operate transparently to a user of a client computer using the data through the host operating environment, and allow the data to be used as a first class participant in the host operating environment. Changes to the data can be saved nonvolitilely in the external data sources.
Abstract:
An arbiter (7) is provided for a QMS having multiple queue users (5A to 5D), each having real time requirements for mastership of a bus (31). The arbiter (7) is arranged so that the amount of time that each queue user (5A to 5D) can gain bus access is a percentage of the total bus time.
Abstract:
A host signal processing accelerator and method of using the same is provided in which certain signal processing tasks which are computing intensive but are contained in short lengths of code are downloaded from the host processor to the accelerator for processing. Signal processing tasks such as FIR (finite impulse response), IIR (infinite impulse response), and FFT/IFFT (fast Fourier transform/inverse fast Fourier transform) are sent from the host processor in machine code form to a double-buffered command memory for downloading onto the system bus. The task is loaded into a command buffer located on the accelerator, and is then passed to the accelerator's signal processor for execution. The results are sent to a status buffer on the host processor.
Abstract:
An electronic method and apparatus for a communication system coupling a target device and a plurality of accessing devices to a bus. One of the plurality of accessing devices requests access to the target device. The target device then acquires GUID data from the requesting device. The acquired GUID data is compared to preliminary GUID data stored in the target device. When the acquired GUID data coincides with the preliminary GUID data, the target device releases access allowing function data to the accessing device. On the other hand, when the acquired GUID data does not coincide with the preliminary GUID data, the target electronic apparatus releases access prohibiting function data to the accessing device.
Abstract:
A method and circuit for controlling a FIFO buffer such that the buffer can accommodate more than one data block simultaneously without overlapping data between adjacent data blocks. The FIFO buffer has a read-pointer address register and a write-pointer address register and a bank of write-capture registers including at least a first pair and a second. The first pair of registers captures and saves the write-pointer addresses associated with the beginning and ending of a first data block written to the FIFO buffer register while the second pair of registers captures and saves the write-pointer addresses associated with the beginning and ending of a second data block written to the FIFO buffer. The first pair and second pair alternate in capturing and saving beginning and ending addresses of a plurality of data block written to the FIFO buffer. In reading data from the FIFO buffer, the read pointer address register is loaded with the previously saved write-pointer address associated with the beginning of each data block that is subsequently read. Since both the beginning and ending write-pointer addresses associated with each data block are captured and saved, the system reading from the FIFO buffer delineates between adjacent data blocks, thereby eliminating data overlap or FIFO interruption.
Abstract:
An image processing system includes an image scanning device that outputs via a network, scanned image information obtained by scanning an image of an original document, an image output device that visibly outputs remote image information input from a remote device, and an information processing device that accepts an input of the scanned image information from the image scanning device and that outputs the scanned image information to the image output device. A hub connects the image scanning device, the image output device and the information processing device to the network so that data can be exchanged by a common protocol. The image scanning device includes a port for connecting the image output device, a port for connecting the information processing device and a controller that analyzes destination information of data input from the ports and switches connections of the ports in accordance with the destination information.
Abstract:
A scanning apparatus and a method thereof include a scanning unit scanning a document and outputting a scanned result, at least one external storage unit detachably attached to the apparatus, at least one internal storage unit, and a controller detecting an attachment state of the external storage unit and storing the scanned result in one of the external storage unit and the internal storage unit according to the attachment state of the external storage unit. The scanning unit of the scanning apparatus is combined with a user scanning unit and a user printing unit into a combination apparatus, and the scanned result is printed in a printing apparatus spaced-apart from the scanning apparatus by a distance, thereby removing cables between the scanning or printing apparatus and a personal computer. Regardless of an attachment state of the external storage unit, the document is scanned in the real time, and the scanning apparatus is commonly used with a plurality of personal computers which are not connected to the scanning apparatus.
