    Abstract: Methods, systems, and media for detecting a presentation of media content on a display device are provided. In accordance with some implementations, methods for detecting a presentation of media content on a display device are provided, the methods comprising: detecting, using a light sensor, light levels in the light sensor's surroundings; generating a signal representing the light levels; detecting, using a hardware processor, at least one variation in light levels indicative of a presentation of a video scene based on the signal; detecting at least one variation in light levels indicative of a scene change subsequent to the video scene based on the signal; and determining that media content is being presented on a display device in response to detecting the variation in light levels indicative of the presentation of the video scene and the variation in light levels indicative of the scene change.

    Abstract: In one embodiment, a method generates actions for entities found on a video delivery system based on information for user behavior of a user on the video delivery system and generates probabilities for the actions for the entities based on the actions for the entities and the user behavior. A probability for an action indicates the probability the user would select that action for an entity when compared against other actions in the set of actions for the set of entities. The method then selects an action feed based on the probabilities for the set of actions. The action feed includes at least a portion of the actions for the entities. The action feed is outputted to the client for display on an interface where an action on an entity in the action feed is performed by the video delivery system when selected by the user on the interface.

    Abstract: A video optimizer receives a request to optimize a source file and stream the optimized file. The request may be accompanied by a key uniquely identifying the original source file to be optimized and an optimized version of the source file to stream to the client. The key uniquely identifies the source video file as it exists on an origin server to prevent transmission of modified source video and the optimized version of the source file by optimization parameters to ensure compatibility with the user device. The video optimizer queries a cache database in response to the received request, which contains references keys and locations of optimized source files among local caches in a cluster of video optimizers. The cache database responds indicates whether a matching optimized version of the source file exists in a local cache of a given video optimizer in the cluster.

    Abstract: Various embodiments of the invention provide systems and methods for low bandwidth consumption online content editing, where user-created content comprising high definition/quality content is created or modified at an online content editing server according to instructions from an online content editor client, and where a proxy version of the resulting user-created content is provided to online content editor client to facilitate review or further editing of the user-created content from the online content editor client. In some embodiments, the online content editing server utilizes proxy content during creation and modification operations on the user-created content, and replaces such proxy content with corresponding higher definition/quality content, possibly when the user-created content is published for consumption, or when the user has paid for the higher quality content.

    Abstract: Techniques described herein provide for cloud-based media delivery that accepts or ingests media content, transcodes it according to various media profiles to create a plurality of video files, and provides notification that at least a portion of the video files is ready for delivery. The notification can be provided using a notification Unique Resource Locator (URL), which can be provided in a request to prepare the media content for delivery. Business rules can be used to customize the cloud-based media delivery based on any of a variety of factors, such as requesting party, media type, and the like.
