Abstract:
Provided a transparent conductive layer and an image display device employing the transparent conductive layer. The transparent conductive layer includes a conductive layer containing a metal oxide and a protective layer formed on the conductive layer. The protective layer contains a hydrolyzed and polycondensated product of silicon alkoxide and at least one of mercapto compound and its hydrolyzed and polycondensated product.
Abstract:
A flat light source having a front plate and a rear part. The front plate is held at a distance from the rear part by spacers. A gaseous filling which is under a pressure lower than the ambient atmospheric pressure is introduced into the intermediate space between the front plate and rear part, and the front plate is of a glass material. To be able to produce flat light sources of this type which have a low intrinsic weight, according to this invention the front plate and/or the rear part can be configured as an at least partly thermally or chemically tempered glass pane or the front plate and/or the rear part can be configured as a glass pane which at least in areas is coated with ductile polymer material.
Abstract:
This invention relates to an optical filter made of inorganic material for green light which transfers green light and absorbs all of the other colored lights by sticking an inorganic mixture powder pasted by mixing with screen oil on a glass substrate and firing it. The mixture includes transparent glass powder and oxides of cobalt and either of chrome and a combination of aluminum and chrome. The contrast of a picture displayed on a display device can be substantially increased by reducing the reflection of incident ambient light without the reduction of brightness on account of the application of the above optical filter onto the displaying screen.
Abstract:
An article, illustratively a lamp bulb envelope, for creating a moire effect has a plurality of transparent and nontransparent regions on its surface. When viewed from a point external to the envelope, the individual nontransparent regions on the surface of the envelope which is nearest to the point appear as superimposed upon and intersecting with nontransparent regions on the surface furtherest from the point. The apparent intersections produce a moire effect which is enhanced by varying the line of sight to the bulb. The family of moire curves appear as transversely running curves which pass through the points of apparent intersection of individual nontransparent regions along the near and far faces. The nontransparent regions may be either light diffusive (translucent) or light nontransmissive (opaque) in nature and may be created by abrading the surface of the envelope or by application of opaque or diffusive coatings onto the surface of the envelope. When an actual filament, arranged within the envelope, is energized to emit light, an apparent filament appears in inverted relationship with the actual filament within the envelope.
Abstract:
A photoflash lamp having a glass envelope with a clear protective exterior coating comprising a photopolymer reinforced with glass fibers. In applying the coating, a long strand of glass fibers is wrapped about the lamp envelope, which is then dipped in a liquid photopolymer, or short lengths of glass fiber are dispersed throughout the liquid photopolymer, either by premixing or application after dipping. The wet-coated lamp is then cure-hardened by a short period of irradiation with a source of ultraviolet light.
Abstract:
A METHOD FOR PRODUCING A GLARE-REDUCING COATING UPON A SURFACE, FOR INSTANCE THE EXTERNAL GLASS SURFACE OF THE VIEWING WINDOW OF AN EVACUATED AND SEALED CATHODE-RAY TUBE, COMPRISING PREPARING A COATING FORMULATION CONSISTING ESSENTIALLY OF A SILCEOUS POLYMER, AN ORGANIC POLYMER, AND A VOLATILE ORGANIC LIQUID VEHICLE FOR THE POLYMERS, PRODUCING A SPRAY OF DISCRETE DROPLETS OF THE FORMULATION IN A GASEOUS MEDIUM, INTERCEPTING THE SPRAY UPON THE SURFACE TO PRODUCE A LAYER OF DROPLETS THEREON, FLASHING OFF SUBSTANTIALLY ALL OF THE VEHICLE PRESENT IN THE LAYER LEAVING A SUBSTANTIALLY DRY TEXTURED POLYMERIC LAYER ON THE SURFACE, AND THEN BAKING THE DRY LAYER AT ABOUT 100 TO 200*C. UNTIL THE LAYER IS CURED.
