A valve plate (31) and a cylinder block (15) are inserted in a first housing section (1a) sequentially, and then a second housing section (1b) is installed on the cylinder block (15) around an outer periphery and fixedly secured to the first housing section (1a), wherein an annular resilient member (29), an annular supporting member (24) and an annular shoe holder (27) are inserted in the second housing section (1b) sequentially. A plurality of pistons (21) each having a shoe (25) connected pivotally at one end are inserted into the cylinders (13), respectively, of the cylinder block (15) through retaining holes (27a), respectively, formed in the annular shoe holder (27). A swash plate (23) is inserted into the second housing section (1b) such that one lateral surface thereof bears against the shoes (25) with an outer peripheral portion of the swash plate (23) bearing against an end surface of the annular supporting member (24). A third housing section (1c) supporting the rotatable shaft (3) is attached to the second housing section (1b) and then a bracket (8) incorporating an input shaft (11) and a magnetic coupling (9) is attached to the third housing section (1c).

A rotary-type fluid energy convertor comprises a pair of cylindrical body members, a pintle inserted into the cylindrical body members and having a cylindrical central portion between the body members, a cylinder barrel mounted on an outer periphery surface of the central portion of the pintle, the cylinder barrel being provided with a plurality of spaces isometrically arranged in radial directions thereof, a plurality of bushings fitted into the spaces, a rotary body mounted to the body members to be rotatable and having an inner periphery sectioned into a plurality of flat surface portions against which the top flat portions of the bushings closely abut, respectively, so as to form pressure chambers therebetween, and high and low pressure side fluid passages formed between the cylinder barrel and the cylindrical portion of the pintle. the pintle is disposed so as to be movable parallel to a direction axially normal to the body members so that an amount of eccentricity between a center of the cylindrical portion of the pintle and a rotation center of the rotary body is to be adjustable. The pintle is provided with fluid passages which communicate the fluid inlet and outlet formed to the body members with ports formed to the high and low pressure side fluid passages. The body members is provided with a pair of high and low pressure side pressure chambers at portions symmetric with the high and low pressure side fluid passages, respectively.

In the European patent application publication EP OS O No. 102 441 a high pressure pump is shown which uses tapered rings (disc spring derivatives) which are clamped together as a pump chamber. The clamping rings required cutting into sections which is expensive and time consuming. The present discoverings now show that the friction at compression of the coned rings was very large. The present invention now discovers that radially flexible ring portions should be provided to the coned ring portions in order to eliminate the friction and to reduce the time and cost of the production of the pump arrangement. The invention further provides U-type pump elements which eliminate the clamping rings. A second pressure led into the space in the housing which surrounds the pump elements makes it possible to increase the pressure in the pump, for example, to double the pressure.

In an axial piston motor or pump the cylinder barrel is mounted on a medial shaft which has a shoulder which axially bears against the front end of the rotor barrel. The rear end of the medial shaft is radially borne in a housing portion. The front portion of the medial shaft is provided with a bearing member of an axial thrust bearing for support on a respective axial thrust bearing member in the housing. On the rear end of the rotary barrel an axially selfthrusting control body is provided to seal the flow of fluid to and from the cylinders of the rotary barrel. The control body presses against the rotary barrel, the rotary barrel presses against the bearing of the medial shaft and the thrust bearing member of the shaft bears on the thrust bearing member of the housing. As a result thereof the cylinders in the rotary barrel can be straight through bores. The manufacturing of the rotor barrel is thereby simplified and the flow acceleration losses of former sack-bare bore type cylinders are prevented.
