Abstract: A process for reducing TAN of hydrocarbon feed oil, comprising: a. combining alkaline earth metal, in an aqueous solution having a pH of 10 to 14, with the hydrocarbon feed oil to make a mixture; b. vigorously mixing the mixture; c. precipitating a metal-naphthenate salt; and d. removing the metal-naphthenate salt to reduce the TAN by 50 to 100%; wherein a weight ratio of the hydrocarbon feed oil to the aqueous solution is from 0.25:1 to 20:1. Also, a process for reducing TAN, comprising: a. combining an inorganic alkaline earth metal salt having a water solubility at 20° C. from 35 to 150 g/100 g water, in an aqueous solution having a pH of 10 to 14, to make a mixture; b. precipitating a metal-naphthenate salt; c. collecting the metal-naphthenate salt at an interface between an oil phase and an aqueous phase; and d. removing the metal-naphthenate salt.

The electrocrushing drilling fluid may have a dielectric constant or dielectric strength of at least a set amount, an electric conductivity less than a set amount, or a combination of these properties. The disclosure further relates to an electrocrushing drilling system containing the electrocrushing drilling fluid and an electrocrushing drill bit.

Abstract: We provide a method for removing contaminants from a gas, comprising: alternating input of the gas between two or more beds of adsorbent particles that comprise zeolite SSZ-36, zeolite SSZ-39, or zeolite SSZ-45; wherein the gas contacts one of the beds during an adsorption and a tail gas is simultaneously vented from another of the beds by desorption; wherein a contacting pressure is from about 345 kPa to about 6895 kPa and produces a product gas containing no greater than about 2 mol % carbon dioxide, at least about 10 wppm water, at least about 65 mol % of methane recovered from the feed gas, and at least about 25 mol % of ethane recovered from the feed gas; and wherein the tail gas is vented from the feed end of the beds. We also provide a method for removing a contaminant from a gas, wherein the gas contains hydrogen sulfide.

Abstract: A computer implemented method of matching ontologies is disclosed. The method includes, for each pair of entities of a first ontology and a second ontology, wherein each pair of entities includes a first entity from a first plurality of entities of the first ontology and a second entity from a second plurality of entities of the second ontology, and wherein the first entity and the second entity of each pair of entities is of a same data type: (1) determining a vector of similarities for the pair of entities; (2) determining a confidence score for the vector of similarities; (3) determining a relation score for each relation type based on the vector of similarities to measure relatedness between the first entity of the pair of entities and the second entity of the pair of entities; and (4) generating a mapping ontology based on the relation type, the relation score, and the confidence score of each pair of entities.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are processes for tandem alkene dehydrogenation/alkene dimerization using an iridium pincer complex catalyst on a support comprising magnesium silicates (e.g., Florisil®). The reaction process comprises providing an iridium pincer complex bound to a solid support comprising magnesium silicates; providing a gaseous alkane feedstock comprising at least one alkane; and contacting the gaseous alkane feedstock with the iridium pincer complex bound to the solid support in the presence of a hydrogen acceptor to form dimerized alkenes. The processes disclosed herein can accomplish facile, low-temperature tandem transfer dehydrogenation of alkanes and dimerization of alkenes with unprecedented TONs at a reasonable rate of conversion.

Abstract: Provided herein are liquid polymer (LP) compositions comprising a synthetic (co)polymer (e.g., an acrylamide (co)polymer), as well as methods for preparing aqueous polymer solutions by combining these LP compositions with an aqueous fluid. The resulting aqueous polymer solutions can have a concentration of a synthetic (co)polymer (e.g., an acrylamide (co)polymer) of from 50 to 15,000 ppm, and a filter ratio of 1.5 or less at 15 psi using a 1.2 μm filter. Also provided are methods of using these aqueous polymer solutions in oil and gas operations, including enhanced oil recovery.

Information associated with a wellbore that is in fluid communication with producing zones of a multilayered subterranean reservoir is provided. A methodology is selected to compute zonal splits for the wellbore and zonal splits for the wellbore are automatically computed using the selected methodology and the information associated with the wellbore.
