    Abstract: A lead-acid battery includes a positive electrode plate, a negative electrode plate, and an electrolyte solution. The negative electrode plate includes a negative electrode material. The negative electrode material contains an organic expander and carbonaceous material. The organic expander contains a unit of a bisarene compound and a unit of a monocyclic aromatic compound having a hydroxy group. The unit of a bisarene compound is at least one selected from the group consisting of a unit of a bisphenol S compound and a unit of a bisphenol A compound.

    Abstract: An estimation apparatus estimates an internal state of an energy storage device having a positive electrode, a negative electrode including a negative active material that contains SiOx, and a nonaqueous electrolyte, the energy storage device changing from a positive-electrode limiting type, in which a discharge capacity is limited by the positive electrode, to a negative-electrode limiting type, in which the discharge capacity is limited by the negative electrode. The estimation apparatus estimates the internal state of the energy storage device by using a voltage value and an energization amount in a predetermined voltage range of the energy storage device or at a predetermined measured voltage value, or based on information on the shape of a discharge curve of the energy storage device.

    Abstract: A plate includes a current collector, an intermediate layer layered on the current collector, and an active material layer layered on the intermediate layer. The intermediate layer contains conductive particles and insulating particles. At least a portion of an end edge of the intermediate layer is not covered with the active material layer. The intermediate layer hays a higher mass content of the insulating particles in a region not covered with the active material layer than that in a region covered with the active material layer.

    Abstract: An energy storage apparatus includes one or more energy storage devices and an outer housing that houses the one or more energy storage devices. The outer housing includes an opening that allows communication between an interior and an exterior of the outer housing. The opening is sealed by a first pressure adjuster and a second pressure adjuster arranged complementary to each other. The first pressure adjuster allows passage of gas and prohibits passage of liquid. The second pressure adjuster prohibits passage of the gas and the liquid, and releases an internal pressure in the interior of the outer housing when the internal pressure exceeds a predetermined pressure.
