Abstract: Systems and methods are provided to improve candidate search and measurement in non-standalone (NSA) and standalone (SA) 5G new radio (NR) multi-radio access technology (RAT) environments. For Evolved Universal Terrestrial Radio Access Network (E-UTRAN) NR-dual connectivity (EN-DC), a user equipment (UE) skips 5G band measurements for an initial search or an out-of-service (OOS) search. For SA dual connectivity, the UE avoids 5G remaining band (RBS) scans and limits 5G deviated band search (DBS) scans to bands configured for the carrier.

Abstract: A fifth-generation core network (5GC) provides 5G radio access network (RAN) services to a user equipment (UE) in a time-sensitive communications (TSC) network (TSN). This includes receiving a protocol data unit (PDU) session establishment request from the UE, the PDU session establishment request including an industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) vertical or application type, identifying a TSN application function (AF) relating to the IIoT vertical or application type, determining quality of service (QoS) parameters for communications between the UE and the 5G RAN based on the identified TSN AF, the QoS parameters including a survival time for the IIoT vertical or application type and establishing a PDU session with the UE when the QoS parameters including the survival time are satisfied.

Abstract: Techniques discussed herein facilitate cell selection and/or reselection in scenarios involving one or more Non-Terrestrial Network (NTN) cells. One example embodiment is a User Equipment (UE) device comprising a processor configured to perform operations comprising: determining one or more suitable cells for one of a cell selection procedure or a cell re-selection procedure, wherein the one or more suitable cells comprise a first cell associated with a satellite of a NTN; determining a ranking for each cell of the one or more suitable cells, wherein the ranking for the first cell is based at least in part on a location of the UE, ephemeris data of the satellite, and one or more additional parameters; selecting a highest ranked cell of the one or more suitable cells based on the determined rankings for each cell of the one or more suitable cells; and camping on the highest ranked cell.

Abstract: Apparatuses, systems, and methods for a wireless device to perform methods for improvements to security checks in a fifth generation (5G) New Radio (NR) network, including mechanisms to avoid redundant access stratum (AS) security checks. The wireless device may determine that an on-demand system information block (SIB) request is pending transmission and may buffer the on-demand SIB in response to determining that a connection establishment procedure will be initiated within a specified time period. The wireless device may then perform a unified security procedure for the on-demand SIB request and the connection establishment procedure, including confirming connection security. Further, in response to confirming connection security, the wireless device may use an on-demand SIB received from the network without confirming a corresponding on-demand SIB signature.

Abstract: In an example method, a system obtains a data packet for processing, determines a hash value representing the data packet, and selects a processor core from among a plurality of processor cores for processing the data packet. The processor core is selected by determining, based on the hash value, that the hash value corresponds to a first processor core from among the plurality of processor cores, and determining, based on a plurality of data structures stored by the load balancing system, whether to select the first processor core or a second processor core from among the plurality of processor cores for processing the data packet. Further, the system causes the selected processor core to process the data packet.

Abstract: Apparatuses, systems, and methods for a network to notify user equipment device (UE) whether a network slice the UE has requested is subject to a quota. An AMF of the network may inform the UE if an allowed slice(s) is subject to quota management as part of a registration procedure via a registration accept and/or a UE configuration update command. In addition to providing information regarding whether an S-NSSAI is subject to quota management, the AMF may also share the percent of quota availability to the UE. The UE may implement access control logic based on the received available quota for a particular network slice.

Abstract: Methods and devices for creating and operating a combined network and computational slice instance (NCSI) in a Multi-access Edge Computing (MEC) scenario. Communication and computational resources may be reserved by a NCSI controller for the NCSI. The communication resources may include network slices and the computational resources may include MEC computational resources of one or more MEC servers. The reserved resources may be selected based on quality of service (QoS) requirements of UEs that will utilize the NCSI. During operation, reserved resources for the NCSI may be dynamically renegotiated based on an aggregate load of the NCSI, the QoS of data traffic, and/or updated QoS requirements of the UEs.

Abstract: This disclosure relates to techniques for a wireless device to determine a radio access technology availability indicator to present. A wireless device may establish a wireless link with a cellular network via a cell that operates according to a first radio access technology. The wireless device may determine if access to the cellular network is also available via a cell that operates according to a second radio access technology, by configuration by the serving cell or from another standalone cell. The wireless device may select a radio access technology availability indicator to present based at least in part on determining if access to the cellular network is also available via a cell that operates according to the second radio access technology.
