Abstract:
A human body massager is constructed to include a base, the base having a supporting portion adapted for supporting a part of the user's body, and a magnetic field generator installed in the base and adapted for generating a variable magnetic field involved with the part of the user's body supported on the supporting portion.
Abstract:
A relaxation station for inducing user relaxation includes a sleeve with a reclining surface attached to said frame for accommodating a limb of a user. The sleeve has a plurality of preferably pairs of massage grippers connected to and extending generally upward therefrom. These massage gripper pairs are elongated members projecting generally upward from the sleeve and the gripper pairs are capable of moving reciprocally between an open and a closed position to simulate finger manipulated massage. In a closed position, they cradle and contact the body or a portion thereof of a user. These massage gripper pairs having motive actuators for producing movement between said open and said closed positions, such as scissors extenders or flexible cables The massage gripper elongated members produce massage motions in at least one massage contact pad. The contact pads preferably have a temperature regulator and a dry hydrotherapy supply for enhancing the relaxation of a user and to simulate human massage.
Abstract:
An air diffuser produces a massage effect by concentrating air flow through openings in a rotating valve disc. The valve disc includes vanes which, when acted on by air flow through the diffuser, impart a rotational movement to the valve disc. Air passing through the valve disc openings is further concentrated by tapered air outflow nozzles before being directed onto the head of a user. The rotating pattern of air pressure massages the user's head.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for alleviating excessive pressure development on a body area includes a cushion having bottom and top surfaces which are spaced apart. The top surface has a plurality of channels formed therethrough. A compressible inner layer is disposed between the top and bottom surfaces, and a plurality of elongate, inflexible members are supported by the inner layer and are disposed at least partially within the channels. The members have first ends that extend through the channels to project beyond the top surface. Pressure applied to the first ends causes the members to be displaced axially along the channels toward the bottom surface without deformation. Pressure produced by body contact creates point pressures on the body area, and displacement of the members maintains the plurality of point pressures on the body area, alleviating excessive pressure. The apparatus includes a enclosure cover and the members have large, tapered ends.
Abstract:
A device for activating cells over a prolonged period, comprises a stimuli imparting device for imparting stimuli to a human body, and a state changing device for changing the state of the stimuli imparted by the stimuli imparting device.
Abstract:
An attachment for a hair dryer is disclosed of the type that requires a source of power, for example a massaging apparatus or an infra-red radiation heater. Rather than provide the attachment with its own power source, the attachment is formed with a terminal that allows it to be connected to the power supply circuit of a suitably adapted hair dryer.
Abstract:
A microwavable heating pad has a liquid absorbent to prevent liquid leakage in the event the sealed thermoplastic envelope of the pad is ruptured. The method of forming the pad includes evacuating the air from the thermoplastic envelope prior to sealing. The heating pad is used conjunction with a special seat cushion for outdoor events, such as football games, where a user must sit relatively inactive for an extended period of time. The seat cushion comprises an inner pocket to centralize the heating pad within the seat cushion and also includes a back rest and a front pouch that can be fastened together to hold the heated seat cushion in a neat, compact configuration during storage or transportation.
Abstract:
A therapeutic pad for heating or cooling has a liquid absorbent to prevent liquid leakage in the event the sealed envelope of the pad is ruptured. The method of forming the pad includes vacuuming the thermoplastic envelope prior to sealing. The pad can be used alone or with a comforter to provide warmth or to remove heat from the body of the user.
Abstract:
A therapeutic massaging pillow that is versatile in construction and use. The pillow is provided in a U-shaped form having extensions that fit around the neck and a thicker upper portion that is in intimate contact with the posterior portion of the head of a person using the pillow. The pillow provides a pocket on one or both sides for receiving a container that is filled with a material that can be heated or cooled. Additionally a cavity at the thickest upper portion of the pillow is provided for installing an electrically operated vibrator. The vibrator is embedded in a foam housing and has a switch that is easily accessible through the foam material. Batteries at each end of the housing are provided to operate the vibrating mechanism. The pillow is versatile in construction and use by allowing application of hot or cold temperatures to the posterior of the head through a fluid filled container inserted in the pocket or separately applying a massaging effect of the vibrator.
Abstract:
A whirlpool bathtub with fixtures for producing water and/or air jets, which can be delivered to the tub interior at a plurality of points on the tub wall and/or the tub bottom. No water-conduction pipe system underneath the bathtub is required and all parts of the whirlpool system are easily accessible for cleaning, if each one of these points on the tub wall and/or the tub bottom is assigned an individual, drivable fixture for producing a water and/or air jet. The fixture is set on the tub wall or the tub bottom or is built into the tub wall or the tub bottom and can be acted upon by driving energy from the exterior of the tub.
