Abstract:
Apparatus, methods, and articles of manufacture for encoding a compressed media stream are disclosed. A disclosed method encodes frames associated with one or more compressed media streams within the media signal on a frame-by-frame basis and releases for transmission an encoded version of the media signal containing the encoded frames on a packet-by-packet basis.
Abstract:
Digital video signature apparatus and methods for use with video program identification systems are disclosed. The example apparatus and methods generate a signature associated with a video program. An example system includes a frame scanner to scan video frames associated with the video program. The frame scanner is to select a video frame based on a number of intra-coded macro blocks within the video frame. The example system also includes an intra-coded macro block extractor to extract intra-coded macro blocks from the video frame and a scaled image extractor to extract a scaled image from the intra-coded macro blocks. A signature generator is also included in the example system to calculate a plurality of centroids associated with video frame based on the scaled image and to form the signature based on the plurality of centroids.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus to select media based on engagement levels are disclosed. An example method includes generating an engagement level based on information related to an audience member in a media exposure environment; and selecting, based on the engagement level, one of a plurality of media collections from which a piece of media is to be select for presentation in the media exposure environment.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for characterizing media are described. In one example, a method of characterizing media includes capturing a block of audio; converting at least a portion of the block of audio into a frequency domain representation; dividing the frequency domain representation into a plurality of bands; determining a characteristic difference of a first band of the plurality of bands based on a comparison of a characteristic of the first band and a characteristic of a second band different from the first band, wherein the characteristic of the first band occurs at a time that is different than a time at which the characteristic of the second band takes place; and determining a signature bit based on a characteristic difference. Other examples are shown and described.
Abstract:
Embodiments of the invention relate generally to computing devices and systems, software, computer programs, applications, and user interfaces for identifying acoustic patterns, and more particularly, to determining equivalent portions of audio using spectral characteristics to, for example, synchronize audio and/or video captured at multiple cameras or different intervals of time.
Abstract:
This disclosure relates to systems and methods for proactively determining identification information for a plurality of audio segments within a plurality of broadcast media streams, and providing identification information associated with specific audio portions of a broadcast media stream automatically or upon request.
Abstract:
A method is disclosed including: receiving a broadcast media sequence; comparing broadcast media sequence and a reference media sequence; generating broadcast information related to the broadcast media sequence based on the comparison of the broadcast media sequence and the reference media sequence; and providing interactivity related to the broadcast media sequence to at least one viewer based on the broadcast information.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for determining whether a media presentation device is in an on state or an off state are disclosed. A disclosed example method comprises determining first and second characteristics of a signature associated with a signal representative of media content presented via a media presentation device, evaluating the first and second characteristics to determine first and second fuzzy contribution values representing, respectively, degrees with which the first and second characteristics correspond to the media presentation device being in at least one of an on state or an off state, determining a third fuzzy contribution value based on a number of the first and second contribution values indicating the media presentation device is in one of the on or off states, and combining the first, second and third fuzzy contribution values for use in determining whether the media presentation device is in the on state or the off state.
Abstract:
Apparatus, system and method for performing an action such as accessing supplementary data and/or executing software on a device capable of receiving multimedia are disclosed. After multimedia is received, a monitoring code is detected and a signature is extracted in response thereto from an audio portion of the multimedia. The ancillary code includes a plurality of code symbols arranged in a plurality of layers in a predetermined time period, and the signature is extracted from features of the audio of the multimedia. Supplementary data is accessed and/or software is executed using the detected code and/or signature.
Abstract:
Example methods, apparatus, and articles of manufacture to collect metering information associated with media presented media presentation devices are disclosed. A disclosed example system for collecting metering information includes a media meter to generate media monitoring information in response to media presented by a media presentation device. The example system also includes a peripheral memory device removably couplable by an audience member to the media meter to receive the media monitoring information.
