    Abstract: Users, who have simultaneous access to a plurality of terminal devices, can enter into a multimedia, multiterminal user session. In a negotiation phase users agree on which media to use in a multimedia session and select the most appropriate types of terminal devices that support the selected media. Each terminal device is connected to one of a plurality of interworking communications networks. A network node (130) that is reached through any of the plurality of interworking networks manages creation and supervision of sub-sessions involving the selected terminal devices such that each type of terminal device carry at least one selected media. A versatile and media rich communication is obtained in which terminal devices currently available at a local environment are efficiently used.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus for efficiently transmitting and receiving image data of a drawn sketch using a mobile terminal is disclosed. The method for transmitting data in the mobile terminal includes enabling a data transmission input mode to be selected, and compressing image data up to an allowable text transmission size and transmitting the compressed image data if the data transmission input mode is an image mode. The data may further include time information, and the time information provides a relative time when images are generated. The data may further include an identifier for identifying various transmission modes or reception modes, and malfunction of the system can be prevented by the identifier.

    Abstract: A method for implementing Ring Back Tone (RBT) interworking, a Media Gateway Control Function (MGCF) device, and an Application Server (AS) are provided. A Multimedia Ring Back Tone (MRBT) service is triggered when a Circuit Switched (CS) user originates a call to an MRBT subscriber in an Internet Protocol Multimedia Subsystem (IMS). The method includes: receiving a message sent by an MRBT AS, where the message carries video RBT information; and notifying a Mobile Switching Center (MSC) to put through a calling terminal if determining that a video RBT needs to be played to the calling terminal according to the message. Therefore, a video RBT can be played when a CS user originates a call to an IMS user in the case of network interworking. An IMS video RBT may be played to the calling party when the CS user originates a call to the IMS user.

    Abstract: A communication controller for a communication system associated with a plurality of communication modes is connected to a database storing the communication mode associated state of each terminal, and the communication controller recognizes the communication mode associated states of a connection source and a connection destination by referring to the database, and if multiple communication modes are common to both terminals, notifies the multiple communication modes common to both terminals to the portable telephone terminal of connection source, before connecting to the portable telephone terminal of connection destination, upon receiving a connection request from the connection source to the connection destination. Even if the user of a connection source terminal does not recognize or register in advance the communication mode associated state of a connection destination terminal, the terminals can be connected in a desired communication mode without causing any wasteful traffic.
