The end wall 2 of a container 1 has at least one annular weakening line 4 defining a removable portion 3 within which a raised boss 5 is formed, the stem 8 of the boss being of oval shape in cross-section and extending through an ovalshaped opening in a rotatable disc 9. The stresses created in the wall 2 as the disc 9 is turned cause the wall to shear at the line 4. A frangible member 12 or a rubber or plastics plug may underlie the wall 2 to keep the contents of the container sterile. The contents of the container may be withdrawn through the member 12 by means of a hypodermic needle.
