Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a method for paging coverage extension UEs in a cell controlled by a radio base station. At least one CE-specific paging possibility is defined for paging CE-UEs. The CE-UEs in the cell regularly monitor the at least one CE-specific paging possibility. When the radio base station determines to page all the user equipments in the cell, it pages the CE user equipments in the cell at the CE-specific paging possibility, using a coverage extension technique. The disclosure also relates to a method for paging a CE-UE, which performs radio measurements by a CE-capable user equipment to determine whether coverage extension is necessary. The radio base station is informed about whether the CE-capable user equipment needs coverage extension and then pages the CE-UEs applying or not applying a CE technique depending on whether coverage extension is necessary.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to enabling and disabling of codewords in multi-subframe grants. In particular, dynamic and subframe based enabling/disabling of codewords is enabled even if other control parameters including the resource allocation is performed for multiple subframes. For instance, signal from a scheduling entity to a scheduled entity comprises control information including the resource grant common for multiple subframes and a plurality of codewords for each subframe, and a codeword indication indicating enabling or disabling of one or more codewords for each of the multiple subframes. For each subframe it is determined whether a codeword from the plurality of codewords in said subframes is enabled or disabled according to the codeword indication and/or which codeword is enabled or disabled. The indication of enabling and disabling may alternatively be done by using modulation and coding scheme indicator values which are not associated with a particular modulation and coding scheme.

Abstract: An encoder includes memory and circuitry configured to determine a merge mode to be applied to a current block, wherein the merge mode includes a sub-block merge mode and a first merge mode. In the merge mode, inter-prediction parameters are inferred from a neighboring block neighboring the current block. In the sub-block merge mode, the current block includes a plurality of sub-blocks, and inter-prediction parameters are provided for each of the plurality of sub-blocks. When the merge mode is determined to be the first merge mode, the circuitry generates a prediction image for the current block by performing a bi-directional optical flow prediction process, wherein the bi-directional optical flow prediction process uses a spatial gradient for the current block. When the merge mode is determined to be the sub-block merge mode, the circuitry generates a prediction image for the current block by not performing the bi-directional optical flow prediction process.
