Abstract:
A bumper for an automobile includes a crossbeam which is formed from at least two separate hollow profiles, wherein the hollow profiles abut one another along a longitudinal wall and are joined with one another. The abutting longitudinal walls form a double web oriented in the longitudinal direction of the automobile. The hollow profiles may have an identical cross-sectional configuration. The hollow profiles may be roll-formed or extruded. The modular construction of the crossbeam from separate hollow profiles allows a lightweight construction and allows the load characteristic of the crossbeam to be functionally adapted to different requirements depending on the vehicle or vehicle class.
Abstract:
A formed component of an automobile and a method for its manufacture are disclosed. The formed component has a base body made of a metal sheet and a smaller, locally arranged reinforcement sheet. The gap between the base body and the reinforcement sheet is sealed in certain areas with a sealing mass made of enamel on an alkali-vanadium-silicate basis. The sealing mass may be applied by screen printing. The sealing mass is dried on the base sheet and/or on the reinforcement sheet, whereafter the reinforcement sheet is attached by welding in a region that is not covered by the sealing mass. The composite sheet formed from the base sheet and the reinforcement sheet is then heated to a forming temperature and hot-formed in a forming tool to the formed component and at least partially hardened.
Abstract:
A structural part for a motor vehicle includes an inner component having a generally rectangular cross section and configured in the form of a multichamber hollow section made of light metal, and an outer component having a generally rectangular cross section. The inner and outer components are movable in a telescoping manner relative to one another between an idle state and an activated state. A first locking mechanism is provided to lock the idle state and a second locking mechanism is provided to lock the activated state. The movement of the inner and outer components from the idle state to the activated state is hereby realized by an actuator.
Abstract:
A bumper crossbeam for a motor vehicle includes an outer section configured as a roll-formed hollow profile which is closed at least in some areas. At least one inner section, configured as a separate component, is arranged in the outer section and connected to the outer section. The inner section has at least one wall extending from a front section zone of the outer section to a rear section zone of the outer section.
Abstract:
An automobile column, for example an A-column, a B-column, a C-column and/or a D-column, is made of sheet steel. The automobile column has a first region which underwent heat treatment, a second region which is not heat-treated, and a transition zone between the first and second regions. The transition zone is hereby defined by a width which is smaller than or equal to 50 mm.
Abstract:
A crash box for installation between a bumper beam and a side rail of a motor vehicle includes an outer tube, and an inner tube which is held inside the outer tube, with the outer and inner tubes being movable in relation to one another. At least one of the inner and outer tubes is provided with a coat of varnish at least in a contact area between the outer pipe and the inner pipe.

Abstract:
A crash box for placement between a bumper beam and a side rail of a motor vehicle includes a longitudinal profile made of two U-shaped shells having overlapping ends sized to realize a material doubling for increasing side stiffness and to suit the side stiffness to a load level. A flange plate is provided on a side-rail-proximal end of the longitudinal profile and has an opening for passage of the longitudinal profile. The side-rail-proximal end of the longitudinal profile is configured with a collar which is turned outwards. The collar rests against the flange plate and is joined with the flange plate. In the event of a collision, the longitudinal profile of the crash box is moved into the side rail as the longitudinal profile folds into the side rail starting from the flange plate, while the side-rail-proximal end of the longitudinal profile remains secured to the flange plate.
