Abstract:
A method for interconnecting modules using a local area network daisy chained architecture is disclosed. The architecture includes point-to-point connections between the module and the two modules preceding and/or the two modules following such module in the chain. This architecture allows the chain to be extended and for modules to be removed from the chain without interrupting service to the other modules. A microprocessor and additional Ethernet port provide an additional gateway for connection to an external device.
Abstract:
A method (1000) of compositing a group of graphical objects (B). The method (1000) forms the group of objects (B) in a temporary buffer (W). For each object (C, D) in the group of objects (B), a corresponding clipping path is provided. A resultant clipping path (Z) defined by a union of the clipping paths is calculated. The group of objects from the temporary buffer (W) is composited to a main buffer (V) through the resultant clipping path (Z).
Abstract:
Apparatus and method for processing animal carcasses are described. The method for processing the animal carcass includes electrically stimulating a target region of the animal carcass. By focusing or concentrating electrical stimulation on the middle muscle portion of an animal carcass, the middle muscle portion of the animal carcass can be tenderized without substantially interfering with the cooling rate of the muscles provided in the anterior and posterior portions. The apparatus includes an electrical stimulation frame that includes a plurality of electrical stimulation probes, an upper ground, and a lower ground, which are constructed and arranged for focusing or concentrating electrical stimulation on the middle muscles of an animal carcass.
Abstract:
A case for a mobile device is provided comprised of a body defining a device receptacle configured to removably retain the mobile device. A plurality of retention elements can be connected to the body. The retention elements selected from the group include a movable ring, a vehicle vent vane clip, a ball and socket, and an adjustable stand.
Abstract:
A semiconductor nanocrystal include a first I-III-VI semiconductor material and have a luminescence quantum yield of at least 10%, at least 20%, or at least 30%. The nanocrystal can be substantially free of toxic elements. Populations of the nanocrystals can have an emission FWHM of no greater than 0.35 eV.
Abstract:
Computer-based systems and methods for a multi-state advertisement displayed at a fixed position on a primary display space of a display device. The fixed position advertisement remains in its fixed position in view of the user as the user scrolls the web page in various directions. A plurality of events trigger a change in the state of the multi-state advertisement, with the change in state resulting in a change of the advertisement content, shape, size, style and appearance. An embodiment deploys an initial video in combination with a billboard. When the interstitial video ends, the fixed position advertisement is sized down to a less obtrusive size, with the billboard and the interstitial video replaced with a navigation bar.
Abstract:
A fluid management tool for introducing fluids into a casing string incorporates a mud saver valve configured to open and allow fluid flow in response to fluid flow pressure reaching a predetermined opening pressure, and will automatically close when fluid flow pressure is reduced to or below a predetermined closure pressure, thereby preventing fluid spillage when the tool is withdrawn from the casing. The mud saver valve includes a mud saver spool having a slotted spool cage and being axially movable within a longitudinal bore in the main body of the tool, between an upper or open position in which fluid can flow out of the spool cage and into a discharge bore at the lower end of the main body, and a lower or closed position in which the lower end is seated against the exit bore to prevent flow therethrough. A check valve may be incorporated into the lower end of the mud saver spool. The fluid management tool also may incorporate a main seal and air bleed valve subassembly and a secondary suction seal and check valve subassembly.
Abstract:
The present application provides a process for the preparation of α-carboxamide pyrrolidine derivatives of formula (I), wherein R1 and R2 are independently hydrogen, C1-6alkyl or C3-6cycloalkylC1-6alkyl; or such R1 and R2, together with the nitrogen to which they are attached, may form an unsubstituted 3-, 4-, 5- or 6-membered saturated ring; X is carbon or nitrogen; n is 0, 1 or 2, wherein when present each R5 is independently selected from the list consisting of C1-3alkyl, halogen, cyano, haloC1-3alkyl, hydroxy, C1-3alkoxy and C1-3haloalkoxy; either R6 or R7 is —O—R8, —OCHR9R8, —NCH2R8 or —(CH2)2R8 wherein the other R6 or R7 is hydrogen or R5; and wherein R8 is a phenyl ring or wherein the phenyl ring is optionally substituted by one or more groups independently selected from the list consisting of C1-3alkyl, halogen, cyano, haloC1-3alkyl, hydroxy, C1-3alkoxy and C1-3haloalkoxy; and R9 is hydrogen or C1-3alkyl.
Abstract:
Methods are provided for controlling a vehicle speed during a downhill travel. Based on the estimated grade of the downhill travel and further based on an input received from the operator, different combinations of an engine braking torque and a regenerative braking torque are used to maintain the vehicle speed during the downhill travel. A battery rate of charging is also adjusted based on the duration or distance of the downhill travel, as indicated by the operator input.
