摘要： Apparatus and method for performing Automatic Retransmission reQuest (ARQ) in a wireless relay communication system are provided, which include performing ARQ with the base station (BS), transmitting data successfully received from the BS to mobile station (MS), and retransmitting corresponding data to the MS when a retransmission indication message is received from the BS. Since the relay station (RS) relays only the errorless data to the receiver, the reliability of the data received at the receiver can be enhanced. The load on the RS can be reduced because the transmitter controls the ARQ.

摘要： A method and system for transmitting reference signals in a BWA communication system using a first transmit antenna, a second transmit antenna, and a plurality of sub-carriers. Each of the sub-carriers occupies a sub-frequency domain. In the method, reference signals for identifying a first transmit antenna are transmitted through a second predetermined number of sub-carriers in a first mini sub-channel transmitted through the first transmit antenna and occupied by a predetermined time domain and sub-frequency domains of a first predetermined number of sub-carriers, and reference signals for identifying a second transmit antenna are transmitted through the second predetermined number of the sub-carriers in a second mini sub-channel transmitted through the second transmit antenna and occupied by the time domain and the sub-frequency domains of the first predetermined number of sub-carriers.

摘要： A scanning apparatus and method in a multi-hop relay Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) communication system are provided. In the scanning method, a Mobile Subscriber Station (MSS) sends a scan request message requesting scanning to a Base Station (BS) via a Relay Station (RS). The BS sends a scan response message containing information for the scanning of the MSS to the MSS via the RS. The BS then sends a scan notify message indicating the scanning of the MSS to the RS.

摘要： An apparatus and method for determining a vertical handoff for a node supporting a WLAN and an IEEE 802.16 communication system are provided. Reception of a handoff request message from the node is monitored, an expected change in the total throughput of the WLAN in the case where the node is connected to the WLAN is calculated and compared with zero, and if the throughput change is equal to or greater than zero, the handoff request of the node is acknowledged and the node is handed off to the WLAN.

摘要： An apparatus and method for relaying neighbor BS in a multi-hop relay broadband wireless access (BWA) communication system are provided. In the BWA communication system, a BS transmits a neighbor BS advertisement message to a relay station (RS) within a cell area of the BS. The RS configures a relay neighbor BS advertisement message by eliminating unavailable neighbor BS information from the neighbor BS advertisement message, and broadcasts the relay neighbor BS advertisement message in a cell area of the RS.

摘要： A mobile communication system for modulating input data with a specific size into an OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) symbol and transmitting the OFDM symbol through at least two different antennas. A replica generator generates replica data by cyclically-circulating the input data. An encoder generates a first antenna signal and a second antenna signal by encoding the input data and the replica data. A first IFFT (Inverse Fast Fourier Transform) block generates a first OFDM symbol by performing IFFT on the first antenna signal, and a second IFFT block generates a second OFDM symbol by performing IFFT on the second antenna signal. A first antenna transmits the first OFDM symbol, and a second antenna transmits the second OFDM symbol.
