    摘要: A method of treating a solid tumor, including the steps of localizing the tumor and the arterial vessel that supplies it, and injecting into the vessel, a vaso-occlusive collagen material adapted to produce occlusion of vessels having lumen diameters between about 10 and 150 microns. The injected material is effective to produce occlusion of the secondary and tertiary vessels supplying the tumor, distal to the collateral blood vessels which may also supply the tumor. The region of the occluded tumor is heated under conditions that produce tissue necrosis selectively in the occluded tumor tissue.

    摘要: Disclosed is a crustacean trap (20) formed by a plurality of monolithic molded panels (24-30) serially interconnected via coupled pairs of interlocking channels integral to side margins of the panels to form a substantially non-deformable frame defining an unimpeded access portal while retaining elements (124, 132) along base margins of the panels provide a frame for a cast-in-place base (134). A lid (22) providing limited access into the interior and more limited egress from the interior of the trap is pivotally positionable within the portal between the serially interconnected panels to control access through the portal. Counter-rotating latches, lost motion and elongated brackets for the pivotal elements of the lid enhance the trap's reliability by requiring particular manual motions to pivot the lid between its closed and open positions.

    摘要: The present invention is an interconnection of a loop analysis test system (LATS) to a digital switching system. This arrangement includes the utilization of existing network units to establish a path connection from the computer of a LATS system to a measuring unit of the LATS system. This path through the digital switching system provides for the appropriate signaling requirements in order to simulate a telephone call to the digital switching system for connection to a subscriber. Another path is provided to connect the measuring unit to the subscriber line to be tested via a special access network. In addition, this arrangement includes a data base in the CPU switching system to provide for determining whether the connection of this path through the switching system is for a test access or for normal calling functions. The data base also records the interconnection of equipment such that the proper subscriber's line may be accessed when called by the LATS system.

    摘要: A facade for enclosing data processing apparatus or similar equipment. The facade is designed to be a free-standing unit, enclosing completely a multiple-component data processing assemblage. However, the facade can also be utilized in conjunction with external structural members, such as existing walls, to enclose the assemblage. The facade is easily assembled and disassembled by available field personnel, but has sufficient structural integrity to provide protection for the enclosed equipment assemblage and to prevent casual entry into the interior. In addition, the facade has sufficient apertures to permit disapation of heat generated by the high circuit element density utilized in the modern data processing apparatus. The facade is arranged to permit easy access by the maintenance personnel to the interior of the facade. The facade eliminates the necessity for the the exterior cabinetry normally utilized by the individual data processing units, thus the ability to open the facade at numerous locations can permit the maintenance personnel direct access to electronic components of the data processing units. The facade contains a raised false floor, in order to provide a method of electrically coupling the units without having the coupling exposed. Ramps are provided to permit the entry of test equipment. The interior area enclosed by the facade is capable of expanding or contracting, depending on the requirements and amount of data processing equipment required by the site.

    摘要: The naturally occurring collagen is modified by removal of certain terminal peptide chains, which are described as telopeptides. The modified collagen, so derived, is described as atelopeptide collagen. Native collagen is immunogenic, while atelopeptide collagen is nonimmunogenic or possessed of a negligibly low level of immunogenicity.The collagen in solution is then treated according to a specific regimen under conditions whereby the collagen slowly separates from solution while exposed to mild shear forces. This procedure results in the formation of a fibrous precipitate composed of regularly ordered fibers of collagen possessed of a ropelike structure. These resulting aggregates are referred to as native fibrous micropolymers (NFM). Once the regimen or procedure is completed, and the fiber mass has been formed, the fibrous micropolymers may be freed of salt, taken up in a different solution or modified. For example, cross-links may then be introduced to stabilize the fibers. The products find wide use as packing, membranes, fibers, bags, supports, integuments, and are especially suitable for biologic implantation or application.

    摘要: In various embodiments, the present invention describes a system that attaches to an existing pipeline, pipe, valve or meter in order to prevent unwanted theft and tampering with fluids and gasses flowing through the pipeline, pipe, valve or meter. In one embodiment of the present invention, the inventive device has two locking halves that mechanically and releasably interact with each other and cover the metering device prior to being locked. In one embodiment of the present invention one housing frame connect with a rectangular base underneath the invention thereby allowing it to lock the meter. In one embodiment of the present invention the electronic signal devices are elevated from the meter thereby preventing accidental dislodging and tampering.
