Abstract:
Cutting members for razors are provided that have been subjected to a localized heat-treating process, e.g., application of laser energy. In some cases, the cutting members include a bent portion, and the localized heat-treating process is used to enhance ductility and thereby facilitate formation of the bent portion.
Abstract:
The present disclosure includes a pulse oximeter attachment having an accessible memory. In one embodiment, the pulse oximeter attachment stores calibration data, such as, for example, calibration data associated with a type of a sensor, a calibration curve, or the like. The calibration data is used to calculate physiological parameters of pulsing blood.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus are disclosed to perform choice modeling with substitutability data. An example method includes receiving base choice probability values for a respondent, wherein the base choice probability value is associated with a product, receiving a respondent substitutability factor associated with the product, identifying, with a cluster analysis engine, a primary product and a secondary product and generating a subrespondent associated with the secondary product, and calculating, with a cross sourcing engine, a modified choice probability for the subrespondent for the secondary product based on the respondent substitutability factor and the base choice probability values associated with the secondary product.
Abstract:
A method is described for treating a gas stream containing either fuel only or both fuel and oxidant gases, such as hydrogen, nitrous oxide or a hydrocarbon gas. The gas stream is conveyed through a vacuum pumping arrangement comprising a plurality of pumping stages. Either immediately before or immediately after the final pumping stage, the steps of adding a gaseous oxidant to the gas stream and oxidising the fuel gas are performed. By treating the gas stream in this manner, the risk of uncontrolled combustion of the fuel gas can be minimised.
Abstract:
A Web-enabled mobile image capturing and processing (MICAP) cell-phone for use on a Web-based shipping, tracking and delivery network. The cell-phone include a hand-supportable housing, and a digital image capture and processing engine for capturing and processing digital images of shipping documents at a point of shipment pickup. An image-based bar code reading engine is integrated with the housing for recognizing 1D and/or 2D bar-coded labels in captured digital images. A display panel displays digital images. An RF transceiver circuit, with an RF antenna, supports wireless data communication protocols. A microprocessor and memory aboard the cellphone provides a computing platform supporting an operating system (OS) and one or more application programs, including a Web browser program, and a client application program. At least the application program supports the automatically reading of bar-coded shipment tracking numbers graphically represented in the captured digital images, and automatically generates digital image files (i) having headers that are encoded with machine-recognized shipment tracking numbers, and (ii) which are named or titled using the machine-recognized shipment tracking numbers.
Abstract:
An electrical test method and apparatus are disclosed. In the method one or more ring oscillators are formed in one or more layers prior to formation of a metal 1 layer of a semiconductor wafer. The one or more layers comprise the formulation of transistors and local interconnects. One or more test structures are formed in one or more interconnect layers at or after the metal 1 of the semiconductor wafer. Each test structure is coupled to a corresponding one or more ring oscillators. A voltage is applied to one or more non-precision contacts to cause the ring oscillators to oscillate. At-speed performance of one or more test structures is determined from one or more measured signals obtained from the test structures. The electrical test apparatus includes one or more ring oscillators formed in one or more layers prior to formation of a metal 1 comprising the formulation of transistors and local interconnects of a semiconductor wafer and one or more test structures formed in one or more interconnect layers at or after the metal 1 of the semiconductor wafer. Each test structure is coupled to one or more corresponding ring oscillators. A non-precision contact is coupled to the one or more ring oscillators for applying voltage to one or more non-precision contacts to cause the ring oscillators to oscillate.
Abstract:
The present invention provides flexible, user-definable call screening processes. The user can optionally define to which telecommunication terminals a screened call is to be broadcast to and under what conditions. An incoming call is forwarded to a call management system that asks the caller to leave a voice message. The call management system selectively couples the call to a POTS line or a VoIP-capable device so that the user can listen to the incoming message and thereby screen the incoming call. Based on the screening, the user can instruct the call management system to connect the caller to the user.
Abstract:
A method is described for treating a gas stream comprising fluorine (F2) gas. In a preferred embodiment, the method comprises the steps of conveying the gas stream to a reaction chamber containing a heated bed of material to react with F2 to form an inorganic fluoride, and at least partially evacuating the reaction chamber so that the gas stream is conveyed to and from the reaction chamber at a sub-atmospheric pressure.
