    Abstract: A method for determining a presence of reservoired hydrocarbons having a hydrocarbon seep involves locating a hydrocarbon seep at a seabed location where hydrocarbon is actively flowing out of the seabed. Temporally spaced molecular compositions of the hydrocarbon seep are determined. When a temporal variance between the molecular compositions falls within a predetermined temporal tolerance, the hydrocarbon seep is classified as being indicative of the presence of reservoired hydrocarbons. A unique identifier is assigned to the reservoired hydrocarbons.

    Abstract: The invention provides a process for the separation of a first C3 to C7 diol from a first mixture of C3 to C7 diols. The first mixture is provided to a first distillation column. An extractant is fed to the first distillation column above the first mixture. A stream comprising the first diol and the extractant is removed as a bottoms stream from the first distillation column and subjected to distillation in a second distillation column. A high purity first diol stream is removed from the top section of the second distillation column, while a used extractant stream is removed from the bottom section. The extractant is a C3 to C6 sugar alcohol or mixture thereof. The first diol is a close-boiler to and/or forms an azeotrope with one or more of the other C3 to C7 diols present in the first mixture.

    Abstract: Receiver-consistent scalars of seismic receiver channels are used for time-lapse monitoring of a sub-surface earth formation. Signals are induced by seismic waves propagating through the earth formation adjacent to each respective seismic receiver channel. Each seismic receiver channel is acoustically coupled to the earth formation as present directly adjacent to the location of the seismic receiver channel in question. The base receiver-consistent scalars and the monitor receiver-consistent scalars of seismic receiver channels can be outputted to reveal changes in these receiver-consistent scalars. These changes can be used to delineate information about physical changes in the subsurface earth formation. The changes in the based receiver-consistent scalars and the monitor receiver-consistent scalars may be displayed visually.
