Abstract: Systems and methods of providing a NPRACH preamble in a multefire system are described. A UE configured for multefire NB-IoT or eMTC operation receives, from an eNB, access information that includes a SIB on a narrowband channel of an unlicensed band. Based on the access information, the UE transmits a NPRACH preamble in two or six contiguous uplink subframes. The NPRACH preamble is transmitted in two or six contiguous subframes. When two subframes are used, four symbol groups each having a 266.7 μs CP and two symbols are transmitted without a gap therebetween. When six subframes are used, four symbol groups each having a 266.7 μs CP and five symbols are transmitted without a gap therebetween.

Abstract: Technology for a Next Generation NodeB (gNB) operable to communicate over an anchor channel for Unlicensed Internet of Things (U-IoT) is disclosed. The gNB can encode control information for transmission on two discovery reference signal (DRS) subframes to a user equipment 5 (UE). The control information can be transmitted on an anchor channel having a set frequency for U-IoT in an adaptive frequency hopping system. The control information can include: a primary synchronization signal (PSS), a secondary synchronization signal (SSS), a physical broadcast channel (PBCH) transmission, and a system information block for MulteFire bandwidth reduced (SIB-MF10 BR).

Abstract: Described herein are methods and apparatus for NB-IoT devices to operate in unlicensed spectrum. Frequency hopping patterns are disclosed that enable compliance with applicable regulations. A base station may be configured to operate in Multefire (MF) narrowband internet of things (NB IoT) cell over unlicensed spectrum. The base station may communicate with one or more wireless devices over a specified number N of data channels separate in frequency. The frequencies of the data channels may be specified by a frequency hopping sequence. The base station may be configured to encode an anchor channel for transmission to the one or more wireless devices at a fixed frequency interspersed in time with the data channels.

Abstract: Techniques described herein can facilitate Channel-State Information (CSI) measurement and feedback for communication in unlicensed spectrum or Sounding Reference Signal (SRS) transmission and/or channel-state estimation for communication in unlicensed spectrum. In an example, an apparatus is configured to be employed in a User Equipment (UE), and the apparatus comprises a Radio Frequency (RF) circuitry interface and processing circuitry configured to perform CSI measurement for communication in unlicensed spectrum. The apparatus further generates data for feedback according to the CSI measurement, and sends the data for feedback to RF circuitry via the RF circuitry interface. In an example, a frame structure of a data channel begins with a downlink (DL) transmission or soon after an initial signal. In an example, the CSI measurement includes measuring Channel Quality Information (CQI) for one or more sub-bands.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus are disclosed for a UE and its serving base station in 5G NR systems to signal channel scan or channel sensing to allow channel occupancy time (COT) sharing before transmissions. The COT sharing may be initiated by the base station or by the UE by asserting a CCA indication to enable channel sensing by a UE or base station, respectively. When the UE receives and decodes the asserted CCA indication during downlink transmission, the UE may perform channel sensing during a short interframe space (SIFS) between the downlink transmission and a scheduled uplink transmission. When the UE detects that the sensed RF energy across an intended transmission band is greater than an energy detect threshold, the UE may refrain from transmitting during the scheduled uplink transmission. Otherwise or when the CCA indication is de-asserted, the UE may transmit during the scheduled uplink transmission without performing channel sensing.
