    摘要: An adhesion control system for a locomotive is provided for achieving and maintaining a maximum adhesion value. The adhesion control system includes a means for determining from an appropriate adhesion-creep curve an ideal creep rate that must be achieved and maintained in order to achieve and maintain a maximum adhesion value, a means for estimating an actual creep rate through the measurement or estimation of motor or wheel acceleration and locomotive acceleration, a means for selecting a creep rate set point based on a comparison of the actual creep rate and the ideal creep rate where the creep rate set point is set to a positive value if the actual creep rate is less than the ideal creep rate minus an acceptable differential and is set to a negative value if the actual creep rate is greater than the ideal creep rate plus the acceptable differential, and a means responsive to the creep rate set point for adjusting the operation of the locomotive so that the maximum adhesion value may be realized where the actual creep rate is increased if the creep rate set point is set to the positive value and is decreased if the creep rate set point is set to the negative value.

    摘要: A method and traction control system for an AC locomotive which separately controls the allowable creep level of each individual axle and optimizes traction performance by minimizing torsional vibration per axle. The traction control system includes a torque maximizer and a torsional vibration detector. The torque maximizer evaluates the change in traction system performance levels and actual creep level of individual axles and determines the desired torque maximizer state for maximizing traction performance of each individual axle. The torque maximizer utilizes digital filtering to minimize control cycle time. The torsional vibration detector digitally processes estimated torque feedback of each traction motor in order to detect an unacceptable level of torsional vibration. The outputs of the torque maximizer and the torsional vibration detector are provided to a creep modulator which processes these inputs in order to control the operating creep level of each locomotive axle. As a result, traction performance is improved while minimizing torsional vibration and operating noise levels due to wheel/rail squeal.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for generating gating signals for each of a plurality of electric switching devices in electric power conversion circuit includes a microcomputer for computing timing data representative of a relative time for application of gating signals to each of the switching devices for generating a desired electric power output from the conversion circuit. The timing data is provided to a volatile memory which has a plurality of addressable memory locations in which each memory location address corresponds to a selected time increment. Timing signals are generated in an address format for the memory such that each of the timing signals addresses a unique memory location in the memory. The gating signals for the switching devices are stored in memory locations in the memory corresponding to the time with respect to a starting point at which it is desired to have the gating signals generated. As the timer-counter generates sequential timing signals, sequential locations in the memory are addressed and, if a gating signal is present in that location, a gating signal is output to the conversion circuit.

A plurality of electrical conduction devices connect the elements into an electrical circuit such that current passes through at least one element in a first direction and through at least one adjacent element in a second opposite direction such that EMI generated by any one element is substantially cancelled by EMI generated by an adjacent element.

    摘要: A system and method for controlling power transfer between an internal combustion driven electrical power generator and a direct current (DC) motor. In one form, the invention includes control of a power inverter in a manner to restrict current through a winding of the generator to a predetermined polarity. The inverter includes a plurality of gate controlled switching devices which are selectively energized to allow current to free wheel through the motor during at least some portion of each alternating voltage cycle of the generator. In another form, a plurality of resistors are connected in series with an inverter and a DC motor with each resistor including a switching device for bypassing current around the associated resistor. In this form, resistors can be selectively inserted into the series path during electrical braking so that a maximum amount of electrical energy can be transferred to the generator through the inverter without exceeding the voltage limits of the inverter during high speed braking. Regenerative braking is further maximized during low speed or reduced braking requirements by removing resistors from the series current path.
