Abstract: A noninvasive physiological sensor can include a first body portion and a second body portion coupled to each other and configured to at least partially enclose a user's finger. The sensor can further include a first probe coupled to one or more emitters and a second probe coupled to a detector. The first probe can direct light emitted from the one or more emitters toward tissue of the user's finger and the second probe can direct light attenuated through the tissue to the detector. The first and second probes can be coupled to the first and second body portions such that when the first and second body portions are rotated with respect to one another, ends of the first and second probes can be moved in a direction towards one another to compress the tissue of the user's finger.

Abstract: An optical physiological sensor configured to perform high speed spectral sweep analysis of sample tissue being measured to non-invasively predict an analyte level of a patient. An emitter of the optical physiological sensor can be regulated to operate at different temperatures to emit radiation at different wavelengths. Variation in emitter drive current, duty cycle, and forward voltage can also be used to cause the emitter to emit a range of wavelengths. Informative spectral data can be obtained during the sweeping of specific wavelength regions of sample tissue.

Sensors can include one or more optical sensors configured to measure a physiological parameter, such as total hemoglobin, Sp2, methemoglobin, carboxyhemoglobin, and the like. A monitoring system can receive measured information from the sensor and determine if the physiological condition of the user indicates an urgent medical need. When the physiological condition of the user indicates an urgent medical need, the electronic device can generate an alert.

Abstract: An optical measurement device includes a light source, a first detector, and a second detector. The light source emits light to a measurement site of a patient and one or more detectors detect the light from the light source. At least a portion of a detector is translucent and the light passes through the translucent portion prior to reaching the measurement site. A detector receives the light after attenuation and/or reflection or refraction by the measurement site. A processor determines a light intensity of the light source, a light intensity through a tissue site, or a light intensity of reflected or refracted light based on light detected by the one or more detectors. The processor can estimate a concentration of an analyte at the measurement site or an absorption or reflection at the measurement site.

Abstract: A cloud-based physiological monitoring system has a sensor in communications with a living being so as to generate a data stream generally responsive to a physiological condition of the living being. A monitor receives the data stream from the sensor and transmits the data stream to a cloud server. The cloud server processes the data stream so as to derive physiological parameters having values responsive to the physiological condition. The cloud server derives a medical index based upon a combination of the physiological parameters. The cloud server communicates the medical index to the monitor, which displays the medical index.

Abstract: A physiological test credit method determines if test credits are available to the monitor and checks if a Wi-Fi connection is available. If test credits are less than a test credit threshold, the monitor connects to a test credit server, processes server commands so as to download test credits and disconnects from the server. In various embodiments, the monitor is challenged to break a server code, the server is challenged to break a monitor code. The server validates monitor serial codes, and saves monitor configuration parameters.

A placement indicator helps the patient to properly position the sensor. The monitor can display a message alerting the patient to reposition the sensor. The device can delay measurement until the sensor is properly positioned.
