Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure include a sensor configured to store in memory indications of sensor use information and formulas or indications of formulas for determining the useful life of a sensor from the indications of sensor use information. A monitor connected to the sensor monitors sensor use and stores indications of the use on sensor memory. The monitor and/or sensor compute the useful life of the sensor from the indications of use and the formulas. When the useful life of the sensor is reached, an indication is given to replace the sensor.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for proximity sensing in physiological sensors, and more specifically to using one or more proximity sensors located on or within a physiological sensor to determine the positioning of the physiological sensor on a patient measurement site. Accurate placement of a physiological sensor on the patient measurement site is a key factor in obtaining reliable measurement of physiological parameters of the patient. Proper alignment between a measurement site and a sensor optical assembly provides more accurate physiological measurement data. This alignment can be determined based on data from a proximity sensor or sensors placed on or within the physiological sensor.

Abstract: A device for predicting and monitoring epileptic seizures includes a wearable electrodermal activity (EDA) sensor that measures skin conductance, a wearable respiration rate (RR) sensor and a microcontroller. The microcontroller receives high-frequency phasic signals from the EDA sensor and compares the phasic signals to a first skin conductance threshold value and a second skin conductance threshold value to determine when to actuate a warning of an epi-seizure condition of a patient. When a warning alarm is generated, the microcontroller compares a number of breaths per minute to respiration rate thresholds to determine when a patient is in a seizure state. The microcontroller transmits warning and seizure mode alerts to a epi-seizure telemedicine application stored on a smart device to alert a caregiver of an incipient or on-going epileptic seizure.

Abstract: A wearable device suitable for monitoring blood in a body part may be implemented for instance in oximeters for detecting oxygen level in blood, which operates by contrasting the ratio of transmission of visible red light to transmission of infrared light. The ratio of the amount of absorbed red light to the amount of absorbed infrared light indicates the amount of oxygen in the blood. Therefore, in wearable devices having an oximeter function, there may be an emitter emitting red light to the sensor, and an emitter emitting infrared light to the same sensor which is capable of detecting in both ranges of wavelengths. In this case, the red light emitter and the infrared light emitter take turns to emit light.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for remote patient management and monitoring. The patient is monitored with a wireless sensor system connected to an application executing on a patient user computing device. The system continuously monitors physiological parameters, such as, but not limited to, blood oxygen saturation (SpO2), pulse rate, perfusion index, pleth variability index, and/or respiration rate from the photoplethysmograph. The system triggers alarms if the patient physiological data violates thresholds. Care providers review patient data and associated alarm(s) with graphical user interfaces.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for identifying representative photoplethysmogram (PPG) pulses are described. A method may include acquiring a first set of PPG pulses from a user via a wearable device. The method may include comparing a set of morphological features of the first set of PPG pulses, and determining one or more PPG profiles for the user, where the one or more PPG profiles each include a set of morphological value ranges for the set of morphological features. The method may include acquiring a second set of PPG pulses from the user via the wearable device, and determining that one or more PPG pulses from the second set of PPG pulses match the one or more PPG profiles. The method may include determining one or more physiological metrics associated with the user based on the one or more PPG pulses matching the one or more PPG profiles.
