摘要: A preferred embodiment of a sealing assembly for partitioning a first fluid from a second fluid includes a first machine component defining a seal groove adjoined to a pocket recess and a second machine component having a relatively rotatable surface. A rotary seal is in sealing engagement with the first and second machine components. The rotary seal includes a seal body of generally ring-like construction. The seal body has a predetermined modulus of elasticity and defines a dynamic sealing lip having a dynamic sealing surface. The seal body has an annular recess defining a plurality of retaining ridges and retaining depressions. The annular recess has a first volume in an uninstalled condition and a compressed volume when the rotary seal is in sealing engagement with the first and second machine components. An energizer element is positioned in the annular recess and engages the plurality of retaining ridges and depressions in the annular recess. The energizer element has a modulus of elasticity that is different than the predetermined modulus of elasticity of the seal body. The energizer element has a volume in the compressed condition that is no greater than the compressed volume of the annular recess. An anti-rotation projection engages the seal body and extends from the seal body into the pocket recess of the first machine component.

摘要: A goggle based light-weight VOG system includes at least one digital camera connected to and powered by a laptop computer through a firewire connection. The digital camera may digitally center the pupil in both the X and Y directions. A calibration mechanism may be incorporated onto the goggle base. An EOG system may also be incorporated directly into the goggle. The VOG system may track and record 3-D movement of the eye, track pupil dilation, head position and goggle slippage. An animated eye display provides data in a more meaningful fashion. The VOG system is a modular design whereby the same goggle frame or base is used to build a variety of digital camera VOG systems.

摘要: To determine a cataract or the degree of cataractogenesis in an eye of a patient, the patient views two lights juxtaposed, wherein each light comprises a mixture of two different wavelength lights. One of the lights is a fixed reference mixture, while the mixture of the other non-fixed light is varied until the patient observes less distinction between the two light mixtures in terms of brightness, hue or saturation. The luminance levels of the light components of both light mixtures for providing comparison and the ratio levels of the components are predetermined. Once a transition range is established from the comparison, the predetermined ratios are then related to respective ratios of a standardized group. Deviations between the ratios of the patient and the standardized group indicate the existence of a cataract and/or the degree of a cataract precursor formation.

摘要: To determine a cataract or the degree of cataractogenesis in an eye of a patient, the patient views two lights juxtaposed, wherein each light comprises a mixture of two different wavelength lights. One of the lights is a fixed reference mixture, while the mixture of the other non-fixed light is varied until the patient observes a match between the two light mixtures in terms of hue, brightness and saturation. The luminance levels of the light components of the non-fixed mixture for providing the match and the proportionate levels of the two components are then determined. The shorter wavelength light of the non-fixed mixture is then substituted with a new wavelength light and the new mixture varied again until the patient observes a match as before. Alternatively, a polarization state of the shorter wavelength light is altered before determining a new mixture for obtaining a match. The luminance levels of the light components of the new mixture are then determined and another proportion obtained representative of the proportionate levels thereof. The first and second proportions are then compared to respective proportions of a standardized group. Deviations between the proportions of the patient and the standardized group indicate the existence of a cataract and/or the degree of a cataract precursor formation.

摘要: Systems and other embodiments for causing a service request to be produced are described. A system can comprise an analysis component that evaluates an information set to produce an evaluation result. The information set can include a first piece of information from a first information source and a second piece of information from a second information source. The system can also comprise a determination component that proactively makes a determination on if a service request should be produced, where the determination based, at least in part, on the evaluation result. The system can further comprise a production component that causes the service request to be produced in response to the determination being positive.
