摘要: In one embodiment a laser amplifier includes a light pump source that can generate light at a first wavelength or range of wavelengths. The laser amplifier further includes an optically pumped laser amplifier having a gain medium that amplifies light at a second wavelength or range of wavelengths in response to receiving generated light from the light pump source. A housing is used to at least partially surround the gain medium and hold a coolant fluid able to absorb the second wavelength or range of wavelengths.

摘要: A surgical laser system includes a pump module configured to produce pump energy within an operating wavelength, a gain medium configured to convert the pump energy into first laser energy, a non-linear crystal (NLC) configured to convert a portion of the first laser energy into second laser energy, which is a harmonic of the first laser energy, an output, and a first path diversion assembly having first and second operating modes. When the first path diversion assembly is in the first operating mode, the first laser energy is directed along the output path to the output, and the second laser energy is diverted from the output path and the output. When the first path diversion assembly is in the second operating mode, the second laser energy is directed along the output path to the output, and the first laser energy is diverted from the output path and the output.

摘要: A quantum computing system, method and computer readable storage medium involve tuning a whispering-gallery mode optical resonator to support a resonance frequency associated with a transition frequency of an atom. Operation of a laser is controlled to cause the atom to be trapped adjacent the optical resonator and within the evanescent field portion. Based on an atom presence signal from an optical atom presence detector, an indication is provided that the atom is trapped adjacent the optical resonator. A frequency of a cooling laser is controlled to cool the atom, and the optical resonator is configured to define a closed loop-like mode including an evanescent field portion. The trapping laser is configured to cause the atom to be trapped adjacent the whispering-gallery mode resonator, and the cooling laser is configured to manipulate a state of the atom to thereby cool the atom.

摘要: A laser amplifier device including an amplification element which includes a solid-state gain medium including a first main face and a second main face separated from each other by a distance which is smaller than the lateral dimensions. A heat spreader is thermally connected to, and substantially covering, the first main face. The heat spreader is optically transparent to a pump light and is in thermal contact with a heat sink. A first reflector substantially covers and faces the first main face and a second reflector substantially covers and faces the second main face; the reflectors being configured to reflect the pump light. The heat spreader and the first reflector are arranged such that the pump light passes through the heat spreader and through the first reflector and is reflected multiple times across the amplification element, between the first and second reflectors.

A control section of a laser machining device controls, when a target output is larger than a predetermined threshold, an output of laser light by changing a driving current supplied to an excitation light source and, on the other hand, controls, when the target output is equal to or smaller than the threshold, the output of the laser light by changing a duty ratio of a Q switch while keeping the driving current supplied to the excitation light source substantially fixed.
