Abstract: A system for initiating an automated slowdown procedure within a vehicle includes a system controller adapted to detect a request for initiation of an automated slowdown procedure, a human machine interface (HMI), wherein the system controller is adapted to prompt, via the HMI, the driver of the vehicle for verification to initiate the automated slowdown procedure, and a vehicle control module, wherein the system controller is adapted to initiate, via the vehicle control module, the automated slowdown procedure when either one of the driver provides, via the HMI, verification to initiate the automated slowdown procedure, or a response from the driver is not received within a pre-determined time.

Abstract: A system includes a projector module configured to project a visual media for a user, a user tracking sensor configured to sense whether the user is observing the visual media, and a control module configured to detect whether the user is looking at the projector module based on the user tracking sensor, in response to detecting the user is looking at the projector module, control the projector module to initiate projecting of the visual media for the user, detect an interruption of the user observing the visual media based on the user tracking sensor, and in response to detecting the interruption of the user observing the visual media, control the projector module to pause projecting of the visual media for the user. Other example systems and methods for controlling projection of a visual media for a user in a vehicle are also disclosed.

Abstract: A system for generating an image for passengers in a vehicle includes a display adapted to project an image, a polarization rotator actuatable to rotate the polarization of an image to one of S-polarization and P-polarization, a reflector unit adapted to reflect S-polarized images to a first beam splitter, and to reflect P-polarized images to a second beam splitter, each of the first and second beam splitters adapted to receive an image and to reflect the image to an associated passenger, and a controller in communication with the display and the polarization rotator, the controller adapted to simultaneously actuate the display to alternate between projecting a first image and a second image, actuate the polarization rotator to alternate between rotating the polarization of an image to S-polarization and P-polarization, and synchronize the display and the polarization rotator.

Abstract: A method of calibrating a head-up display system includes training a neural network to predict warp maps for an occupant perspective of a single graphical image projected onto a windshield of the vehicle, projecting, with a digital light projector, a graphical image onto the windshield, capturing, with a camera in proximity to the digital light projector, the graphical image projected onto the windshield, locating, with an occupant monitoring system, an occupant eye ellipse position, predicting, with the neural network, a warp map for an occupant perspective of the projected graphical image based on the location of the digital light projector, the occupant eye ellipse position and a shape of the windshield, applying, with the controller, the warp map to the graphical image projected by the digital light projector, and projecting, with the digital light projector, a corrected graphical image based on the predicted warp map.
