Abstract: A method for displaying lane information on an augmented reality display includes receiving roadway data. The roadway data includes information about a roadway along a route of a vehicle. The roadway includes a plurality of lanes. The roadway data includes lane information about at least one of the plurality of lanes along the route of the vehicle. The method further includes receiving vehicle-location data. The vehicle-location data indicates a location of the vehicle. The method further includes determining that that the vehicle is approaching a road junction using the vehicle-location data and the roadway data. The method further includes, in response to determining that the vehicle is approaching the road junction, transmitting a command signal to a dual-focal plane augmented reality display to display at least one virtual image that is indicative of the lane information.

The controller is programmed to detect a remote vehicle in an environment surrounding the vehicle using the plurality of vehicle sensors, determine an intended illumination status of at least one indicator of the remote vehicle using the plurality of vehicle sensors, where the intended illumination status includes an intended lit status and an intended un-lit status, and display a graphic based at least in part on the intended illumination status of the at least one indicator of the remote vehicle using the display.

Abstract: A method includes detecting at least one remote vehicle that is within a predetermined distance from the host vehicle, detecting that the light of the remote vehicle that is on, determining a luminous intensity of a light beam emitted by the light of at least one remote vehicle that is within the predetermined distance from the host vehicle, comparing the luminous intensity of the light beam emitted by the light of at least one remote vehicle to a predetermined threshold to determine whether the luminous intensity of the light beam emitted by the light is greater than the predetermined threshold in response to determining the luminous intensity of the light of at least one remote vehicle that is within the predetermined distance from the host vehicle, and dimming at least a portion of the windshield of the host vehicle.

The light source module further includes an optical filter in optical communication with the led array. The optical filter is configured to receive the source light and transmit a filtered light. The light source module further includes a focusing lens in optical communication with the optical filter. The focusing lens is configured to receive the filtered light and transmit a narrow-beam light. The graphics projector also includes an optical collimator in optical communication with the light source module. The optical collimator is configured to receive the narrow-beam light and transmit a collimated light. The graphics projector also includes an optoelectrical mirror in optical communication with the optical collimator. The optoelectrical mirror is configured to direct the collimated light to form a graphic.

Abstract: An augmented reality head-up display system for displaying graphics upon a windscreen of a vehicle includes a controller in electronic communication with one or more non-visual object detection sensors, one or more image-capturing devices, and a graphic projection device. The controller executes instructions to receive a plurality of detection points that indicate a presence of an object from the one or more non-visual object detection sensors. The controller executes instructions to compare the plurality of detection points with the image data of the environment surrounding the vehicle to identify a visually imperceptible object located in the environment. In response to identifying the visually imperceptible object, the controller determines a notification symbol that signifies the visually imperceptible object. The notification symbol is overlaid at a position upon the windscreen where the visually imperceptible object would normally be visible.
