    Abstract: A composite accumulator includes a base defining a first cavity and having a closed end, an open end, and a fluid port in communication with the first cavity for communicating a hydraulic fluid in or out of the first cavity, a cover disposed over the open end of the base, the cover defining a second cavity, an insert disposed within the second cavity, a piston disposed within the first cavity and the second cavity, the piston sealed to the insert and translatable along an axis, and a biasing member disposed axially between the piston and the insert, the biasing member configured to bias the piston towards the base.     Abstract: A transmission is provided having an input member, an output member, four planetary gear sets, a plurality of coupling members and a plurality of torque transmitting devices. Each of the planetary gear sets includes first, second and third members.     Abstract: A powertrain includes an engine, electric motor, disconnect clutch and a transmission. The transmission has an input member, an output member, at least four planetary gear sets, a plurality of coupling members and a plurality of torque transmitting devices. Each of the planetary gear sets includes first, second and third members. The torque transmitting devices include clutches and brakes actuatable in combinations of three to establish a plurality of forward gear ratios and at least one reverse gear ratio. The electric motor is connected to the input of the transmission and the engine is selectively connected to the input member through the disconnect clutch. A controller is configured to control the operation of the powertrain.

    Abstract: A clutch control system for a vehicle includes: a reset module configured to selectively start a reset operation of a clutch actuator of a clutch that engages and disengages an electric propulsion motor to and from a gearset; a target position module configured to perform the reset operation by setting a target position of the clutch actuator to follow a predetermined position profile for the reset operation, the reset operation including (a) opening an orifice between a hydraulic fluid reservoir and an pressure chamber of the clutch actuator (b) closing the orifice after the opening; and a clutch control module configured to actuate the clutch actuator based on the target position thereby performing the reset operation.
