Abstract:
A stator sleeve for use in an integrated drive generator has a body extending between a first end and a second end and has a generally cylindrical inner peripheral surface. An outer peripheral surface has a plurality of circumferentially extending ribs define intermediate oil cooling channels. An integrated drive generator and a method are also disclosed.
Abstract:
A pressure-regulating valve assembly includes a sleeve body and a spool. The sleeve body has an interior surface and a sense port. The spool has an external surface and is slideably received within the sleeve body such that the external spool surface and the sleeve body interior surface define therebetween a plurality of sleeve body chambers. A first of the sleeve body interior chambers is a deadheaded chamber in fluid communication with the environment external to the sleeve body through the sense port for controlling pressure of fluid traversing the pressure-regulating valve assembly.
Abstract:
A wedge for use in an electric machine has a central leg extending in a direction that will be radially inward when the wedge is mounted on a lamination stack, The wedge has arms extending in both circumferential directions from the central leg, with a circumferentially outermost part of the arms having a curved surface that will be radially outward, and a flat inner surface that will be radially inward when the wedge in mounted in the lamination stack. A generator/motor rotor and a generator/motor are also disclosed.
Abstract:
A system includes a permanent magnet generator (PMG) with a generator shaft defining a longitudinal axis. A brake system includes a brake shaft with a first end operatively connected to the generator shaft for selectively rotating with the generator shaft or braking to slow the generator shaft. A shear shaft is operatively connected to a second end of the brake shaft axially opposite the first end along the longitudinal axis. The brake system includes a press fit sleeve engaged about the brake shaft and an actuator. The actuator is operatively connected to actuate a pawl between a first position spaced apart from the press fit sleeve for normal operation of the PMG, and a second position engaged with the press fit sleeve to apply braking forces to the press fit sleeve and to the generator shaft.
Abstract:
An aircraft power system includes an auxiliary power unit (APU), a transmission unit, and a generator. The APU is configured to output a first APU rotational power in response to determining a first condition and a second APU rotational power in response to a determining a second condition. The transmission unit is configured to receive the first APU rotational output power from the APU. The transmission unit outputs a transmission rotational power based on the first APU rotational output power and outputs the transmission rotational power based on the second APU rotational output power. The generator receives the transmission rotational power and produces an alternating current (AC) voltage having a target frequency based on the transmission rotational power.
Abstract:
A sealing assembly of an input shaft includes a support structure, a bearing assembly, and an input seal. The input seal including an input seal housing having a first portion and a second portion. The first portion is arranged adjacent the bearing assembly. At least one face plate anti-rotation pin is coupled to the input seal housing and positioned adjacent the input shaft. A face plate is positioned adjacent the second portion. The face plate is configured to directly contact the input shaft.
Abstract:
A gear shroud arrangement includes a plate defining an aperture therethrough. A riser tube has a first end and an opposed second end. The first end of the riser tube is connected to the plate and is aligned with the aperture. A mounting flange extends from the second end of the riser tube. A shroud member extends from the plate in a direction opposite the riser tube.
Abstract:
A pump sleeve for an inversion pump in an integrated drive generator has a pump sleeve body extending between a first end and a second end, the first end being at a location adjacent an enlarged endplate. The body extends to the second end with a generally cylindrical body portion having a bore of an inner diameter from the first end to the second end, and between the first and second ends for a distance. A ratio of the first distance to the inner diameter being is 1.8 and 2.0. In addition, an integrated drive generator is disclosed as is a method of replacing an accessory drive gear in an integrated drive generator.
Abstract:
A rotor for a permanent magnet generator includes a rotor body extending between a first end and a second end, having a cylindrical bore and a plurality of flats on an outer peripheral surface. Permanent magnets are positioned at the flats. An outer ring surrounds the permanent magnets and defines an outer diameter. A ratio of the outer diameter to an axial length between the first and second ends is between 3.2 and 3.4. An integrated drive generator and a method are also disclosed.
Abstract:
A variable wobbler plate has a stub shaft and a pivot shaft. The pivot shaft has a smaller diameter portion and a larger diameter portion. The smaller diameter portion has a generally cylindrical outer periphery with a flat over a limited circumferential extent and a diameter to opposed portions of the generally cylindrical portion defining a first distance. A second distance is defined from an end of the smaller diameter portion spaced furthest from the stub shaft to an end of the larger diameter portion spaced closest to the stub shaft and measured along a central axis of the pivot shaft and defines a second distance. A ratio of the first distance to the second distance is between 0.60 and 0.75. An integrated drive generator and a method are also disclosed.
