摘要: An electrical machine has a stator carrying electrical windings which protrude at opposite ends of the stator to form respective, ring-shaped end windings. The electrical machine further has a rotor having a plurality of magnetic field-producing elements for producing a rotor magnetic field which interacts with a stator magnetic field produced by the windings. The electrical machine further has a coolant bath for holding liquid coolant. The electrical machine further has a heat sink in thermal contact with at least one of the end windings, the bath and the heat sink being configured such that the heat sink is immersed in the coolant held in the bath. The heat sink defines one or more fluid pathways configured such that vapour bubbles, formed when coolant in contact with the heat sink boils, escape by rising through the heat sink.

摘要: An epicyclic geartrain comprises a sun gear, a plurality of planet gears, and a ring gear. The plurality of planet gears is supported by a planet torque ring. The planet gears meshingly surround the sun gear, and the ring gear meshingly surrounds the planet gears. At least one of the sun gear, the plurality of planet gears, and the ring gear, is provided with a plurality of permanent magnet portions. Each of the plurality of magnet portions is arranged as a circumferential array. The planet torque ring is provided with at least one stator coil array, with the or each stator coil array being positioned in axial alignment with the or each corresponding plurality of permanent magnet portions as an axial flux electric motor generator element.

摘要: Methods and systems for lifting wellbore fluids in a subterranean well towards a surface include providing a closed water system free of fluid communication with the wellbore fluids, the closed water system having a water storage tank located outside of a high temperature zone of the subterranean well. Water from the water storage tank is circulated into the high temperature zone of the subterranean well to form a steam. A downhole steam turbine is rotated by the steam to drive a submersible pump system in fluid communication with the wellbore fluids and the wellbore fluids are lifted towards the surface with the submersible pump system. The steam exiting from the steam turbine is directed towards the water storage tank.

摘要: Embodiments of the disclosure relate to transient event mitigating systems and methods that can be incorporated into a power generation system. The power generation system can include an exciter coupled to an alternating current (AC) generator that provides electric power to power lines. The transient event mitigating system can include an automatic voltage regulator that detects a transient event in one or more of the power lines and configures a power converter to respond to the transient event by increasing an amount of direct current (DC) voltage coupled into the power converter. The power converter can provide the increased DC voltage to an exciter coil of the exciter for a transitory period of time in order to adjust the electric power generated by the AC generator and mitigate adverse effects of the transient event.
