Abstract: An impeller including a blade section, a shroud section, and a hub is made of a monolithic structure. The impeller is made by loading a 3D image file into an additive manufacturing device, using it to generate 2D files which correspond to a plurality of cross-sectional layers of the impeller, and solidifying corresponding portions of pulverant material layers to create the impeller.

Abstract: An airplane is provided. The airplane includes a compressing device. The compressing device includes a turbine with a first inlet and a second inlet. The turbine provides energy by expanding mediums. The first inlet is configured to receive a first medium of the mediums. The second inlet is configured to receive a second medium of the mediums. The compressing device includes a compressor and a motor. The compressor receives a first energy derived from the first and second mediums being expanded across the turbine during a first mode of the compressing device, receives a second energy derived from the first medium being expanded across the turbine during a second mode of the compressing device, and compresses the second medium in accordance with the first mode or the second mode. The motor provides a supplementary energy to the compressor.

Abstract: A sensor supply tube assembly is provided for disposition within a compressor outlet through which a main flowpath is defined and a sensor port transversely coupled to the compressor outlet. The sensor supply tube assembly includes first and second tubes. The first tube is formed to direct main flowpath fluid from the compressor outlet and through a portion of the sensor port and includes first and second ends disposed within the sensor port and the compressor outlet, respectively, and a curved section interposed between the first and second ends. The second tube includes a sleeve tightly fittable between the first end and the sensor port and a base. The base has an exterior surface from which the sleeve extends and which is disposed and configured to non-rotatably abut with an interior surface of the compressor outlet.

Abstract: A system, which includes a plurality of heat exchangers and a compressing device, is configured to prepare in parallel a medium bled from a low-pressure location of an engine and flowing through a plurality of heat exchangers into a chamber. The compressing device is in communication with the plurality of heat exchangers and regulates a pressure of the medium flowing through the plurality of heat exchangers. The compressing device is bypassed based on the preparing in parallel the medium for the chamber, which in turn enables the compressing device to windmill. Therefore, the system employs at least one mechanism to prevent components of the compressing device from windmilling.
