    摘要: A novel cushioning conversion machine and method for converting sheet stock material into a novel cushioning product and for producing discrete sections or pads of desired length, without the need for a cutting assembly, thereby enabling the construction of a less expensive, smaller and less complex machine. The machine and method are characterized by a weakening device for perforating a sheet stock material of one or more plies along tear lines so that as a strip of cushioning is formed from the stock material, discrete sections or pads of desired length may be detachable along the tear lines. The stock material includes material which is biodegradable, recyclable and composed of a renewable resource, such as kraft paper.

    摘要: A system, and associated components and methodology, that provides for automatic determination and supply of an amount of dunnage to fill the void left in a container in which one or more objects have been placed. The system comprises a dunnage dispenser which is operable to dispense a controlled amount of a dunnage, a container scanner, and a logic device. The container scanner includes a height sensor for sensing a height characteristic of a container, a width sensor for sensing a width characteristic of the container, and a contour sensor for sensing a contour characteristic of the objects in the container. The logic device can (1) process sensed characteristic information from the height sensor, width sensor and contour sensor, (2) determine the amount of dunnage needed to fill the void not occupied by the objects, and (3) command the dunnage dispenser to dispense the determined amount of dunnage.

    摘要: An apparatus controllably moves the forks of a material handling vehicle in traverse directions relative to a carriage assembly. The carriage assembly includes fork position sensors which detect the transverse location of each fork. A controller receives signals from the position sensors and moves the forks to locations a preselected or calculated distance apart. Forktip sensors detect the opening in a load during movement of the forks. The controller receives signals from the forktip sensors and positions the forks such that they are disposable within the load opening. The apparatus is especially suitable for use on an Automatic Guided Vehicle (AGV).

    摘要: Industrial vehicles incorporating obstacle detection systems are commonly employed in commercial applications. Advantageously, such collision avoidance systems should incorporate failure detection systems sufficient to make such systems fail-safe. The subject obstacle detection system includes one or more transducers 24,24' adapted to produce article detected signals in response to sensing an obstacle in front of the vehicle 12. Preferably the transducers 24,24' are pivotally mounted to the vehicle 12. The transducers 24,24' are adapted to produce the article detected signals at regular predetermined intervals, and a sensor failed signal is produced in response to the transducers 24,24' ceasing to produce the article detected signal at such regular intervals. An end of detector swing signal is produced in response to the transducers 24,24' being at a predetermined angular swing position, and logic circuitry is adapted to receive the article detected signals and the end of detector swing signals and to produce an obstacle detected signal only in response to presence of the article detected signal coincident with absence of the end of detector swing signal.

    摘要: A self guided vehicle has a roller deck controllably powered by an electric motor to accept and deliver loads on both the left and right side of the vehicle. An infrared communication system is employed to coordinate the overall transfer of these loads between the vehicle and a docking station. The communication system performs the multiple functions of locating the docking station relative to the left and right side of the vehicle, determining the direction the load is to be transferred, and controlling the direction of motor rotation to effect such a transfer.
