An ink jet recording head is provided at least with ink discharge pressure generating elements, nozzles for discharging ink liquid droplets, and a through opening formed by means of Si anisotropic etching for the ink supply on the Si substrate having plane orientation. Then, the oxygen concentration of the Si substrate having the plane orientation is arranged to be 1.3E18 (atoms/cm.sup.3) or less. With the substrate thus arranged, it becomes possible to enhance the production yield when forming the ink supply ports by means of the Si anisotropic etching, and at the same time, it is possible to reduce the variation of the widths of the ink supply ports that may be caused by the Si anisotropic etching. Thus, the ink discharge frequency is enhanced.

A method for manufacturing a liquid jet recording head includes a first process of forming an ink flow passage pattern on a substrate by a resin layer; a second process of forming a covering resin layer to cover a resin layer on the resin layer; a third process of forming an ink discharging port pattern by a material having resistance to an oxygen plasma on the surface of the covering resin layer; a fourth process of forming ink discharging ports by dry etching the resin layer by the application of the oxygen plasma with the ink discharging port pattern as a mask; and a fifth process of eluting the resin layer. This method enables the ink discharging ports to be formed without cutting the substrate and at the same time, the distance between the ink discharging pressure generating elements and the orifices to be controlled rigidly; hence making it possible to manufacture a liquid jet recording head having a stabilized discharging characteristic.

Such photo-initiator aids in realizing high sensitivity without lowering storage stability of the recording medium. The transfer recording layer causes a change in transfer characteristic when provided with light energy and heat energy, at least one of which is applied imagewise, to provide a transferable portion therein. The transferable portion is then transferred to a transfer-receiving medium such as plain paper to form a transferred image thereon.
