    摘要: A switch circuit for controlling the supply of electrical power from an electrical power source to a load includes a power supply switch comprising input, output and control terminals. The circuit further includes an electronic switching device connected to the control terminal of the power supply switch and having an activating input; a momentary switch coupled to the activating input of the electronic switching device; and a charge storage element coupled to the momentary switch. In a first mode, closing the momentary switch in excess of a triggering time charges the charge storage element and triggers the electronic storage device to turn on the circuit to supply power to the load. In a second mode, closing the momentary switch connects the charge storage element to the electronic switching device to turn off the electronic switching device and the power supply switch, thus interrupting the supply of power to the load.

    摘要: There is provided a power supply for an electrical device, an electrical device including such a power supply and a method for supplying power to an electrical device. The power supply comprises a transformer having primary and secondary windings. The primary winding is connectable to a AC voltage supply and circuitry on the secondary side is arranged to provide a DC output voltage for the electrical device. The power supply also comprises a switch between the primary winding of the transformer and the AC supply, a rectifier for rectifying the AC voltage, and a current limiter. The switch is arranged to switch on at some point as the rectified AC voltage increases, once it has reached a non-zero value, thereby providing a current flow through the primary winding and hence through the secondary winding. The current limiter is arranged to limit the amount of current flowing through the primary winding. The switch is arranged to switch off before the rectified AC voltage starts to increase again.

    摘要: An amplifier system comprises an amplifier, a comparator connectable to the amplifier to compare an incoming signal with a number of reference potentials. A switching stage is controlled by the output of the comparator and arranged to select a voltage level to be applied to one side of a load, such as a loudspeaker system. A subtractor is included to subtract from the incoming signal a percentage of the selected voltage level to be applied to the load. The amplifier receives the output signal of the subtractor, amplifies that signal and applies it to a second side of the load. There is also disclosed a method for amplifying a signal.

    摘要: An image information processing system comprises a recording apparatus for recording an image having an arbitrary aspect ratio on a recording medium in the form of an image signal, and a reproducing apparatus for reading out the image signal from the recording medium, processing the image signal to form an image having an appropriate aspect ratio, and reproducing the image. The recording apparatus performs compression or expansion on the image having the arbitrary aspect ratio to convert the image into an image having a predetermined aspect ratio, and records the image having the predetermined aspect ratio in the form of the image signal. The recording apparatus also performs recording of compression/expansion information associated with the compression or the expansion. The reproducing apparatus reproduces an image having an aspect ratio equal to the aforesaid arbitrary aspect ratio from the image signal on the basis of the compression/expansion information.

According to this invention, an image processing apparatus which performs predictive coding using image data of a different frame as a reference picture includes a prediction unit which performs motion compensated prediction for each reference picture in at least one reference list formed from a set of reference pictures for prediction, a reference list update unit which updates the reference list by adding or deleting the reference picture, a reference counter unit which measures, for each reference picture, a count at which the reference picture is used for motion compensation predictive coding, and an update picture determination unit which determines a reference picture to be updated in the reference list by using the measurement result of the reference counter unit.

    摘要: A power supply (V1) for an electrical device comprising a transformer (X1) having primary and secondary windings. The primary winding is connectable to an AC voltage supply and circuitry on the secondary side is arranged to provide a DC output voltage for the electrical device. The power supply also comprises a switch (111—transistors Q1 & Q2) between the primary winding of the transformer and the AC supply, and a rectifier (Diode D6) for rectifying the AC voltage. The switch is arranged to switch on at some point as the rectified AC voltage increases, once it has reached a non-zero value, thereby providing a current flow through the primary winding and hence through the secondary winding when the switch (111—transistors Q1 & Q) is switched off.
