Abstract:
For writing data to multi-track tape, a received data set is received and segmented into unencoded subdata sets, each comprising an array having K2 rows and K1 columns. For each unencoded subdata set, N1-K1 C1-parity bytes are generated for each row and N2-K2 C2-parity bytes are generated for each column. The C1 and C2 parity bytes are appended to the ends of the row and column, respectively, to form encoded C1 and C2 codewords, respectively. All of the C1 codewords per data set are endowed with a specific codeword header to form a plurality of partial codeword objects (PCOs). Each PCO is mapped onto a logical data track according to information within the header. On each logical data track, adjacent PCOs are merged to form COs which are modulation encoded and mapped into synchronized COs. Then T synchronized COs are written simultaneously to the data tape where T is the number of concurrent active tracks on the data tape.
Abstract:
An unencoded m-bit data input sequence is divided into a block of n bits and a block of m−n bits. The block of n bits is divided into a first set of n+1 encoded bits, wherein at least one of P1 subblocks of the first set satisfies a G, M and I constraints. The first set of n+1 encoded bits is mapped into a second set of n+1 encoded bits wherein at least one of P2 subblocks of the second set gives rise to at least Q1 transitions after 1/(1+D2) precoding. A second set of n+1 encoded bits is divided into P3 encoded subblocks and the P3 encoded subblocks are interleaved among (m−n)/s unencoded symbols so as to form a (m+1)-bit output sequence codeword which is then stored on a data storage medium.

Abstract:
When an order for printing image data is placed via a network, a wrong agency or a wrong recipient can be prevented from being designated. A print order is placed by sending order information and image data to a DPE store. The order information includes recipient information. An order reception server refers to a table stored in a database for representing an order reception area of the DPE store, and judges whether or not the place of residence of a recipient is within the order reception area, based on the recipient information. If a result of the judgment is negative, the order reception server sends warning information to a user terminal. In this manner, a warning message notifying a user of the fact that the recipient or the DPE store may be wrong is displayed on a monitor.
Abstract:
When image data sets are inserted in image data insertion areas in a template, the image data sets can be set preferably in the insertion areas with easy operation. A user connects a user terminal to a print order reception center via a network, and uploads the image data sets to be used. The user specifies reference points in the respective image data sets by using instruction input means. An order reception server displays composite images generated by matching the image data reference points with reference points predetermined in each of template data candidates at the time the template candidates are displayed.
Abstract:
A photocatalyst-containing silicone resin composition is provided, which can be baked at a relatively low temperature (e.g., approximately 100° C.) to form a film having high transparency, durability and photocatalysis. This composition comprises TiO2, a Zr containing compound, a hydrolyzable silicone resin and a Si containing compound containing SiO2 particles. A content of the Zr containing compound in terms of its oxide is 0.005 to 0.1 parts by weight with respect to 1 part by weight of TiO2. A content of the Si containing compound in terms of its oxide is 0.5. to 6.0 parts by weight with respect to 1 part by weight of TiO2. A content of the SiO2 particles is 0.1 to 3 parts by weight with respect to 1 part by weight in terms of an oxide of the hydrolyzable silicone resin.

A print order accepting server comprising: a receiving device which receives an image from a customer via a network, together with the information of a dispatch destination designated by the customer; a database registering the information of production base, including the positional information of a plurality of production bases for producing a photo print; a calculation device which calculates a delivery cost of the photo print produced at each of the plurality of production bases based on the positional information of the plurality of production bases and the received dispatch destination information; a production base deciding device which decides a production base having the cheapest delivery cost based on the delivery costs calculated by the calculation device; and a transmitting device which transmits the received image and the dispatch destination information via the network to the production base decided by the production base deciding device.
Abstract:
The present invention provides an on-screen display device that can effectively utilize a part of a video RAM area for characters which perform special character display. This on-screen display device includes a register that retains information for performing special character display of respective lines, such as through display or space display, and compares display information of the respective line between the register and a display line counter, to output information indicating whether the special character display is to be performed or not to the video RAM, thereby effectively utilizing a part for performing the special character display in the video RAM area.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for providing linear position (LPOS) estimations. If valid LPOS data may be detected from the tape, then a first method for LPOS estimation is performed using the Hall effect sensors. If valid LPOS data may not be detected from the tape, then an error recovery procedure (ERP) is invoked so that a second method for LPOS estimation is used to provide accurate LPOS information which is synchronized to a validly detected LPOS from tape within about 1 meter prior to the desired data record.
