Abstract: The occurrence of more and the deterioration of performance are suppressed. A data compression unit stores identification data indicating the presence or absence of periodicity, and printing data correlated with the identification data in a first memory area of a RAM. A color conversion processing unit that performs speculation processing stores printing data that has undergone color conversion processing corresponding to printing by a printer in a second memory area of the RAM. A screen processing unit that performs speculation processing performs AM screen processing on printing data. The screen processing unit confirms the identification data stored in the first memory area of the RAM by the data compression unit, and in a case where the identification data indicates there is periodicity, instructs to perform color conversion processing corresponding to printing by a copier on printing data, and performs FM screen processing on the printing data.

Abstract: Provided is an image forming apparatus capable of executing a copy job without causing a memory shortage by dividing and sequentially executing the copy job process. The image forming apparatus includes a free area determining unit and a division process executing unit. The free area determining unit compares capacities of work areas necessary for executing a scanning job and a printing job with free area in memory (RAM), respectively. The division process executing unit, in a case where the free area determining unit determines that the free area in memory is equal to or greater than the capacity of the work area necessary for executing the scanning job, but is less than the capacity of the work area necessary for executing the printing job, cancels parallel processing, and after executing the scanning process, saves in a non-volatile memory, and then after restarting, executes the printing process.

Abstract: An image forming apparatus which implements a plurality of functions includes: storage with a prescribed storage area; an operating system which implements at least some of the functions by allocating a part of the prescribed storage area for a plurality of processes and executing the processes; and a storage area managing section which predicts an amount of consumed memory in response to generation of a job and determines whether or not the amount of consumed memory is allocable to the job in the prescribed storage area. The job is a processing target for the image forming apparatus. The amount of consumed memory is used for processing the job by the image forming apparatus. When determining that the amount of consumed memory is not allocable, the storage area managing section ends at least one process which is not used to process the job to make the amount of predicted memory allocable.

Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes an image reading unit, an image forming unit, an acceptance unit, a paper transporting unit, a mode selecting unit, and a control unit. The image reading unit includes a document transporting device, a loaded-document detecting unit, a document table, a document holder, and a placed-document detecting unit. The mode selection unit can select a first mode in which paper is transported at the start of image reading operation and a second mode in which paper is transported after the image reading operation. If the loaded-document detecting unit detects that a document has not been loaded in a loading position and the placed-document detecting unit detects that a document has not been placed on the document table, the control unit controls the mode selection unit to select the second mode and controls the image reading unit to read an image on the document table.

In such a method, design and coloring of a textile patch and the textile material is detected. This detection includes: capturing images of the textile patch and the textile material with a camera; sending the images to a programmed computer system in communication with the camera for image processing; determining thickness and colors of the textile patch and the textile material from the image processing of the images; and determining position of the textile patch relative to a pattern of the textile material from the image processing of the images. After the detecting, data obtained from the detecting is displayed on a display screen of the programmed computer system.
