摘要: Techniques for managing operation of a user equipment (UE) in a multi-carrier system are described. The system may support two or more carriers on the downlink and one or more carriers on the uplink. One carrier on each link may be designated as an anchor carrier. In an aspect, a lower layer order (e.g., an HS-SCCH order) may be used to transition the UE between single-carrier and multi-carrier operation. In another aspect, the UE may have the same discontinuous reception (DRX) configuration for all downlink carriers and/or the same discontinuous transmission (DTX) configuration for all uplink carriers. In yet another aspect, HS-SCCH-less operation may be restricted to the anchor carrier.

摘要: A wireless data network delivers packets from a network router to a mobile station so that each application running on the mobile station receives an adequate quality of service (QoS). The mobile station sends configuration messages to the network router containing prioritized filters associated with each application. The router filters incoming IP packets into IP flows having the appropriate QoS for the corresponding application. The configuration messages consume valuable air interface resources. Network resources are conserved by assigning precedence values to filters in such a way that fewer configuration messages are needed to reorder the filters when new filters are added. Precedence values for existing filters are spread out in one portion of the precedence space. When the precedence values in that portion are insufficient to accommodate new filters with the correct priority, both new and existing filters are reassigned precedence values in an unassigned portion of the precedence space.

摘要: Systems, methods, devices, and computer program products are described for discontinuous multi-carrier uplink management in a wireless communication system. Common timing parameters may be identified for use in relation to discontinuous uplink transmissions on each of a two or more wireless carriers concurrently transmitting from an access terminal. A first operational state is associated with a first wireless carrier, while a second, different state is associated with a second wireless carrier. The first carrier may be operated in the first operational state concurrently with the second carrier being operated in the second operational state, with each carrier operated in accordance with the common timing parameters.

摘要: Systems and methodologies are described that facilitate power distribution and data allocation in a multi-carrier wireless communication system. A portion of transmit power can be pre-allocated to an anchor carrier to support non-scheduled data flows. Remaining power is split among all carriers, including the anchor carrier, after pre-allocation. Data from one or more flows, scheduled and non-scheduled, are allocated to the carriers in accordance with priorities associated with the one or more flows. Allocation of data can be performed sequentially starting with a non-anchor carrier. In addition, non-scheduled data flows can be restricted to the anchor carrier.

摘要: A system and method for providing mobile switching center (MSC) initiated service negotiation in a wireless communication system. If a new call arrives for a subscriber unit while the subscriber unit is already on the traffic channel, a change in the service configuration may allow the subscriber unit to receive the new call while preserving the old call. MSC initiated service negotiation may be used to establish the change in service configuration. The MSC transmits a Change Service Command message to the base station in whose coverage area the subscriber unit is located. The Change Service Command proposes a new service configuration to accommodate both the old and the new call. The base station, subscriber unit, and MSC may interchange further messages to modify the proposed service configuration if necessary. Messages are exchanged until the base station, subscriber unit, and MSC reach an agreement regarding the new service configuration. The present invention also provides support for soft handoff. The new service configuration is presented to all target base stations involved in the soft handoff, so that the subscriber unit may make use of the new service configuration while in soft handoff.

摘要: An apparatus and method enables a dynamic change from one carrier to another in a wireless telecommunication system. In one example, user equipment receives a preconfiguration message adapted to enable the user equipment to be preconfigured for an initial carrier and a subsequent carrier. Here, the user equipment initially communicates over an air interface utilizing the initial carrier frequency. Upon the satisfaction of certain conditions, such as one of the initial carriers being heavily loaded or nearing its capacity, a Node B provides an order to the user equipment to switch from its initial carrier to the secondary carrier, which was preconfigured. In this way, relatively rapid carrier switching provides for enhanced load balancing largely controlled by the Node B.

摘要: Synchronization of uplink carriers for transmission is disclosed in accordance with different aspects. The uplink carriers that transmit information are configured such that at least one of the uplink carriers is an anchor carrier. When a plurality of carriers are thus configured for the uplink, they are synchronized such that they bear a predetermined phase relationship with each other. The predetermined phase relationship between the plurality of carriers depends on the transmit timing of the anchor carrier or a combination of transmit timings of the anchor carrier and one or more non-anchor carriers comprised within the uplink carriers.
