Abstract: An optical assembly may include a waveguide and a Bragg grating configured to couple light into or out of the waveguide. The Bragg grating may include a plurality of layer pairs, wherein at least one layer pair comprises a first material having a first refractive index and a second layer having a second refractive index, and wherein properties of the Bragg grating are selected so that the Bragg grating exhibits a substantially similar diffractive efficiency and diffraction angle for light of at least two colors.

Abstract: A display is provided. The display includes a plurality of light-emitting elements configured to emit a first light associated with a first predetermined wavelength band. The display also includes an optical assembly including a reflective polarizer, a color conversion layer, and a color filter layer. The optical assembly is configured to at least partially convert the first light associated with the first predetermined wavelength band into a second light associated with a second predetermined wavelength band, the second light being a polarized light of a predetermined polarization.

Abstract: A hybrid lens is disclosed including optically coupled varifocal lens and adaptive lens. The varifocal lens is configured for varying optical power of the hybrid lens, and an adaptive lens includes a voltage-controlled element for varying optical power of the adaptive lens in coordination with varying the optical power of the varifocal lens and responsive to variation of the optical power of the hybrid lens, for lessening an optical aberration of the hybrid lens. The hybrid lens may be used in head-mounted displays e.g. for lessening a vergence-accommodation conflict.
