摘要： A printing system is provided in which a printer and a server are connected to a network. The server performs service to a terminal on behalf of the printer after the start of the printer activation and before the completion thereof, the service being such as instructing printing and receiving print data. The server, after receiving a completion notification of activation from the printer, instructs the terminal to suspend a print sequence, transfers, to the printer, the print data received on behalf of the printer, and instructs the terminal to cancel suspending the print sequence.

摘要： In a system for variable-length coding, when image data of a plurality of documents are compressed and stored in a compression memory, the image data is divided into a plurality of areas. Then, attributes are discriminated for each area, and the result of the attribute discrimination is written to an attribute memory. Attribute counters count the numbers of the discriminated attributes. A variable-length compression section compresses the code data with a compression method in response to the attribute data written to the attribute memory, and the compressed data is written to a compression memory.

The authentication server includes a storage part for storing affiliation information specifying at least one group that each user belongs to, an authentication part for transferring and receiving data to and from the data management apparatus to perform user authentication, and a group identification part for identifying one or more groups that an authenticated user belongs to based on the affiliation information to send information about the one or more groups to the data management apparatus. An access permission part of the data management apparatus permits an authenticated user belonging to a plurality of groups to access a data file to which any of the plurality of groups has been granted access.

When an adjustment mode is specified in the film scanner, the reference output image data generated based on scanning a reference original by a printer is fed to the film scanner to be set as the target data. Based on read out image data generated by scanning a reference original having characteristics identical to those of a reference original, a parameter is calculated to be set for a correction process so that output image data matching the reference data is generated.
