Abstract: An elevator system includes an elevator car to travel vertically in a first lane and a second lane; a propulsion system to impart force to the elevator car; a transfer station to move the elevator car horizontally from the first lane to the second lane; and a control system to supervise travel of the elevator car, the control system to supervise a first intersection between the first lane and the transfer station such that no more than one of vertical elevator car travel and horizontal elevator car travel is permitted at the first intersection at a given time.

Abstract: Elevator systems having an elevator machine connected to an elevator car within an elevator shaft, the elevator shaft including a plurality of landings, at least one first sensor assembly attached to the elevator car, at least one second sensor assembly arranged within the elevator shaft and configured to interact with the at least one first sensor assembly, and a computing system in communication with at least one of the at least one first sensor assemblies and the at least one second sensor assemblies such that the computing system receives at least one of signals or data from the at least one of the at least one first sensor assemblies and the at least one second sensor assemblies. The at least one first sensor assemblies and the at least one second sensor assemblies form a contactless position sensing system for determining a position of the elevator car within the elevator shaft.

Abstract: An elevator system with an elevator car 14, a linear propulsion system to impart force to the elevator car in a hoistway 11, a hoistway communication network 106, 206, a local communication network 110, 210, 310 and motion controls. One of the motion controls proximate to the elevator car is designated as a primary control 61 operable to command at least one drive 42A-42F via the local communication network. The at least one drive is coupled to one or more motor segments 22 of the linear propulsion system. The elevator system further includes a controller 46 operable to command the primary control via the hoistway communication network to reposition the elevator car within the hoistway. The designation of the primary control transitions between the motion controls as the elevator car moves in the hoistway.

Abstract: An elevator system includes a lane and at least one rail extending along the lane. An elevator car is arranged in the lane and is operatively coupled to the at least one rail. The elevator car has a predetermined alignment relative to the at least one rail. A propulsion system is operatively connected between the elevator car and the at least one rail. A thrust and moment control system is operatively connected to the propulsion system. The thrust and moment control system selectively controls the propulsion system to substantially maintain the predetermined alignment of the elevator car relative to the at least one rail.

Abstract: A service tool for interfacing with an equipment system includes a processing system, a display, and a memory system having a plurality of instructions stored thereon that, when executed by the processing system, cause the service tool to establish communication with an equipment controller of the equipment system and capture a plurality of state samples of one or more equipment system parameters distributed over multiple sampling times as a plurality of captured data in a trace buffer of the service tool. The instructions when executed by the processing system cause the service tool to store the captured data from the trace buffer to one or more files in the memory system of the service tool and replay the captured data from the one or more files on the display of the service tool responsive to a replay request.
