    摘要: The present invention employs a generative approach for configuring systems such that a system may be configured based on component or resource requests, or input in the form of need. The present invention provides a constraint-based configuration system using a structural model hierarchy. The structural aspects of the model provide the ability to define a model element as being contained in, or by, another model element. In addition, the structural model provides the ability to identify logical datatype and physical interconnections between elements and establish connections between elements. To configure a system, the present invention accepts input in the form of requests (e.g., component or resource) or needs, such as an expression of a need for a desktop computer system to be used in a CAD (i.e., computer-aided design) environment. Using this information, the present invention configures a system by identifying the resource and component needs, constraints imposed on or by the resources or components identified, and the structural aspects of the system.

    摘要: A low-cost yet high-performance, moderate bandwidth (up to 2 Mbps) global telecommunications interface to new and existing computers allows high-performance, low-cost telecommunications platforms to support global fax, data, voice, and other data streams in an intuitive way. The telecommunications interface provides a very low-cost solution to international connectivity for a broad class of existing computers while providing high-performance wide-area data transfer. Convenient and reliable global communications over the phone line may thus be achieved. From a rudimentary viewpoint, the telecommunications interface provides for an elegant, economical implementation of a fax/data modem. The telecommunications interface provides both a time-division multiplexed interface mode for constant bit rate communications and a packetized interface mode for variable bit rate communications. Multiple streams of digital and/or analog-derived data may be handled simultaneously. DMA and non-DMA interface mode am provided in order to achieve compatibility with a broad range of existing and new computers.

    摘要: The use of diluent to reduce non-specific drug binding (NSB) provides a simple, flexible and biocompatible way to reduce chemical entity (such as drugs, drug candidates and other small molecules) NSB so that bioassay results may more closely predict the behavior of these compounds in vitro. Additionally, the use of diluent as the chemical entity diluent enhances the predictive nature of data emanating from high throughput drug assays such as Caco-2 drug transport assays, plasma protein drug binding assays, PAMPA assays, permeability assays, and drug solubility assays. The diluent is made by either filtering a selected plasma through an ultrafiltration membrane having nominal molecular weight cutoff of about 30 kD, preferably about 10 kD or below or by selectively adding individual components of a plasma or serum that do not contribute to non-specific binding.

    摘要: A high-performance, high-reliable backplane bus has a simple configuration and operation. An error reporting network (ERN) provides an inexpensive approach to collecting the error state of a whole system in a uniform and consistent way. The uniformity allows for simpler interface software and for standardized hardware handling of classes of errors. In a preferred embodiment, serial error registers are used, minimizing implementation cost and making the software interface to the serial registers much easier. Serial error information is transferred over a separate data path from the main parallel bus, decreasing the chance of the original error corrupting the error information. Each CPU is provided with a local copy of the entire body of error information. The redundancy minimizes the impact of a possible CPU failure and allows the CPUs to coordinate error recovery.
