Abstract: Generally, the described techniques provide for a core network signaling to a base station a delay budget configuration that indicates a determined latency for communications between a core network, base station, and a user equipment (UE). In some cases, the core network may determine a first variable delay budget between the core network and a base station based on capability information associated with the wireless communications system. The core network may transmit the delay budget configuration to the base station, where the delay budget configuration may include the first delay budget. The base station may be able to determine a delay between the UE and the base station based on the delay budget configuration. Using the delay budget configuration, the base station may then schedule communications with the UE.

Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods, and apparatus for wireless communications that support fast user equipment (UE) handover between base stations. A UE may receive, from a source base station, a configuration for reference signal transmission at a set of uplink transmit power levels. The UE may transmit multiple uplink reference signal repetitions based on the configuration. The source base station may transmit a request message to a target base station to measure the multiple uplink reference signal repetitions. The target base station may select an uplink reference signal and measure a transmit power correction. The target base station may transmit an indication to the source base station of the selection and transmit power correction. The source base station may evaluate the indications and select the target base station. The source base station may forward to the indicated contents, and the UE may switch and synchronize with the target base station.

A user equipment (UE) may receive from a base station a measurement configuration signal comprising a measurement resource configuration associated with a cross-link interference signal strength measurement. The UE may perform the cross-link interference signal strength measurement for one or more UEs associated with one or more intra-frequency neighboring cells according to the measurement resource configuration, wherein the cross-link interference signal strength measurement is performed during an intra-frequency measurement gap. The UE may transmit a report of the cross-link interference signal strength measurement to the base station.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that provide for user equipment (UE) camping in a virtual cell. A UE may camp in a virtual cell and may be in an idle mode or an inactive mode in the virtual cell. The UE may transition out of the idle or inactive mode and switch from camping in the virtual cell to connecting to a physical cell encompassed by the virtual cell through reselection, redirection, and handover procedures. The virtual cell may include a central unit and multiple distributed units, which may be configured in various physical implementations. Additionally, the virtual cell may be limited to broadcast only or selective unicast signaling.

Abstract: Systems and techniques are disclosed to reduce workload on base stations in a mobile network when content delivery networks cache content inside the network. A user equipment sets a flag only with those packets on the uplink which include requests that should be routed to the cache server inside the mobile network. The base stations perform deep packet inspection of those packets where flags have been set and forward other packets on to the rest of the relevant backhaul of the mobile network. After deep packet inspection, the base stations either route the packet to the cache server via an established connection or propagate the flag in an extension header to another network node for routing to the cache server. The resulting content is returned to the UE with the source address of the originally intended destination instead of the cache server, rendering the process transparent to the end user.

The UE determines whether the UE is located within a sub-region of an MBSFN area based on one or more parameters. The UE receives based on the determination a service over broadcast in the sub-region of the MBSFN area or over unicast outside the sub-region. In an aspect, the MBSFN area may be smaller than a unicast area. In an aspect, adaptive retransmission with a group NACK approach may be used to improve an SNR and reliability.

Abstract: A client device includes a memory comprising a buffer for buffering data having real-time constraints and a hardware-based processor comprising digital logic circuitry. The processor is configured to execute a real-time application configured to determine times during which the data will be available for download, determine a time at which the data is needed to prevent a buffer underrun for the buffer, and when the data is available, send a request for the data and deadline information representative of the time at which the data is needed to avoid the buffer underrun. In this manner, a sending device can prioritize delivery of the requested data to prevent the buffer underrun for the client device.

In an embodiment method, a wireless user equipment may include requesting handover of a voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) call from a first network to a second network, activating a second radio, continuing the voice call on the circuit switched (CS) domain of the second network, and communicating data for applications other than the voice call via the first network.
